I like it. It's not "in your face" design. Not many gaming laptops look "professional" enough. Also, 800 price point for that look is pretty damn good.

I’ve said it multiple times and I’ll say it again.

Not counting some of the Max-Q GPUs, the GTX 1060 seems to be at that sweet spot for laptops since it isn’t very power hungry, has stellar 1080p performance and can now be obtained at a very reasonable price point.

Many of us loved the Inspiron 7000 because it turned out to be a surprisingly good gaming laptop and even a very good laptop for general use as well. With a beefier GPU option for a very reasonable price, that laptop is going deeper into my recommendations list.

Well done Dell. Well frickin’ done.

The Workhorse (AMD-powered custom desktop)

CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 3700X | GPU: MSI X Trio GeForce RTX 2070S | RAM: XPG Spectrix D60G 32GB DDR4-3200 | Storage: 512GB XPG SX8200P + 2TB 7200RPM Seagate Barracuda Compute | OS: Microsoft Windows 10 Pro

The Portable Workstation (Apple MacBook Pro 16" 2021)

SoC: Apple M1 Max (8+2 core CPU w/ 32-core GPU) | RAM: 32GB unified LPDDR5 | Storage: 1TB PCIe Gen4 SSD | OS: macOS Monterey

The Communicator (Apple iPhone 13 Pro)

This ASUS laptop is a 3gb 1060, and this evga card is a gtx 1060 3gb. So, pascal naming is screwed.

Pascal naming isn't screwed. GTX 1060 comes in both 3GB and 6GB. It's the same with other video cards that has 1GB or 2GB of vram.

EVGA GT710 comes in both 1GB or 2GB.

The fact that there are 5 cards that are all called gtx 1060, means to me that pascal's naming is screwed. Seems excessive.

I took a look directly at Nvidia. There is only 3 GTX1060, 2 of them are desktop and only 1 is laptop. For Nvidia's Max Q design, they basically limited the performance of the GTX 1060 so it meets the Max Q criteria.

As some said earlier, there's also a slightly cut-down version of the 1060 that has less CUDA cores and 3GB of VRAM.

So you have a desktop version with 3GB or 6GB of VRAM, a laptop version with 3/6GB of VRAM that's identical to its respective cousin depending on VRAM just with slightly lower clockspeeds and the Max-Q version of the 1060, which is an even lower-clocked version of the laptop version designed for thin and light laptops.

The Max Q 1060 version? Because that'd mean that you'd still get decent battery life: the 1050ti laptops work so well because that chip is 75 TDP and the 1060 is normally 120 so that's a substancial increase, unless they use the Max Q of course in which the difference might be far less.

It's clocked lower just for that.

I actually think this is a great update to a laptop that's well-loved by the LTT community. The smaller battery not withstanding, the addition of a GTX 1060 (even if it's a Max-Q version) and Thunderbolt 3 on a sub-$1000 laptop is awesome.

Dell's laptops still manage to achieve battery lives that I don't see anyone else achieving aside from Razer, Sony (RIP), and Apple.

So here's hoping the 7757 retains that.

Meanwhile, Dell has done away with the previous model's entry-level 1080p TN panel, and instead the laptop's base configuration now starts with their 1080p IPS Anti-Glare LED-backlit panel.

I like when a company learns from its own mistakes.
