Antec 1200 v3 upgrade case

nastdude

Hi guys.

I have been umming and arrring about getting a new pc case.
I really am starting to dislike my Antec case as I have had it for ages and the dust filters are a pain in the a** to get out and clean.

Its heavy and bulky.

Now my question is what case should I get? I preferably want one with a nice windows maybe some rgb okay definitely rgb.

I only aircool havent really gotten into water cooling although may get an all in one in the future.

I live in Australia and have been looking at Phanteks cases. but they are a lil bit pricey.
My budget is around 200 aud.

Regards

Nathan

Phanteks has a great selection of cases, and the newer revised ones have tempered glass and RGB lighting.

What kind of size case are you looking for (full tower, mid tower, etc)?

May give us some details about the system you have now (e.g. CPU, GPU, motherboard, cooler, etc)?

Personally, I have been using a Phanteks Enthoo Luxe Tempered Glass Edition since it became available over here in Canada early in the year.

I have nothing but great things to say about Phanteks' build quality and design -- and the little details they pay attention to have just top's it off.

oops sorry don't post here that often.

Well my specs are

CPU i7 3820

CPU Cooler Cooler Master X6

MOBO Asus p9x79

GPU Asus 1070

RAM 8gb

SSD Samsung 850 evo

2 x HDD 2TB

Case Antec 1200 v3

I have had this system since 2012 minus the graphics card and SSD

I am looking for a nice case that isnt that heavy as I use my htc vive in the lounge room and moving this case is way too heavy.
The only reason why I figured I needed a new case is a friend bought a new one and its so lightweight and sturdy. not to mention my case is a pain all around. Dust filters aren't easy to remove and im not liking how she's looking :(

Ah, okay, so a Mid-tower sized case should fit everything nicely, and make the system more mobile.

The Antec 1200 is a heavy steel case, so I'm not surprised -- same goes for the Cooler Master HAF 932 that I used to have.

Dust filters on more modern cases are much easier to deal with -- held on with magnets, or easy removal/installation handles, etc.

Phanteks Enthoo Pro M Tempered Glass

(video shows the older non-tempered glass edition, but similar overall)

There is also the Phanteks P400(S) Tempered Glass -- S means there is sound dampening.

Fractal Design Define (mini) C Tempered Glass Edition.

Another good case is the NZXT S340 Elite.

A HDMI pass-through at the front, where the USB ports and power button are, is a nice touch -- especially if you have a HTC Vive.

I've got a white S340 Elite housing my Intel i5-4690K build.

-almost good recommendation snip-

While the S340 Elite WOULD be the perfect case for this build due to the HDMI front pass through, there's one major issue. The CPU cooler (cooler master x6) is over 163mm tall, and the case only officially supports 161.7mm. (Photos are of a build I did with an enermax ETS T40F-bk, a cooler height of 162 which BARELY fits, see blue build in my signature for more)

Because of this, The Define C TG (or Meshify C) and the Enthoo Pro M are the two(three) best choices.

Okay, the S340 Elite is out then.

From what I can see, from Fractal's website, the Define C TG and Meshify C uses the EXACT same chassis; everyone from the layout, dust filters, drive mounts, cable routing...are the same. The only thing(s) different is the top I/O layout, and the front vent/mesh cover.

It is up to you on which new case you want to get, but with first-hand experience working/owning a Phanteks case, I'd recommend the Enthoo Pro M TG.

I've used a lot of Cooler Master and Corsair cases (with a few BitFenix, Antec, NZXT, etc) -- Phanteks is up there with the best right now, even though they haven't been around for too too long.
