What's the point of General Forum?

It seems 80% of what gets posted here gets moved to another forum. Why does a General forum even exist?

To chat about non-tech stuff with people who have similar interests. It seems that these people don't know what they're doing though.

Think of it like a sorting bin for the mods to ever so often come in and distribute threads to their final, correct destination.

In which case, I don't know why it exists.

General Discussion is for anything else that is tech related but doesn't fit in the category.

However, mostly new comers of the forum tend to not know about the many forum sections, and posts in General Discussion instead. This means that a mod needs to move it, else it doesn't get attention, or not these best help, as people how are enthusiasts about a certain topic, tend to stick to select forum sections.
