My gaming PC is SUCH a bottom of the barrel, junky pile of plastic that I built a joypad from spare parts JUST so I could try and beef up the emulation experience. That's right. You heard me. DIY.

The set-up was such a piece of garbage that I could barely keep the wires together long enough to play. The coding I did to get it to work? I mean, I guess you can call that Frankenstein's monster of a Java program "code". It forced you to endure absolutely horrendous lag, to the point where I couldn't even make it through 1-1 in Super Mario Bros without sending Mario to his death because my clumsy hands couldn't jam on the DIY buttons fast enough.

It was such an awful experience that I almost gave up trying to play PC games entirely, and mostly use the laptop for casual internet browsing these days. The parts? I've still got the parts. They're sitting in the Arduino Kit Box of Shame because they don't ever deserve to see the light of day again. (Although, I can go fish it out if you want a peek.)

You want authenticity? You've got authenticity. I didn't even need to MAKE a damn video for the contest, cuz I already had one! Just check out this here YouTube link -- the video's from 2015 and hasn't even cracked 1000 views. AdSense revenue? Get out of here, buddy. If I had that, I wouldn't need to enter the contest.

Hardware specs? It's a Thinkpad T420 (blaze it). According to laptopmag.com (circa.... August 4, 2011 :(), it's a motherflippin' "14-inch powerhouse!" ...Intel Core i5-2520M, Nvidia NVS 4200M -- this ain't your momma's 1980s-era games emulator. It can do NES. It can do SNES. It can even do N64... until I have to close some programs, because I need to be able to do assignments on MS Word.

What would I rather play? ...literally anything. Please. The last FPS game I played was the demo version of Halo: Combat Evolved over LAN in our high school computer lab (R.E. Mountain Secondary in Langley, BC represent!), because my friends and I would mod the demo map file (BLOOD GULCH) to make the combat more interesting. I may be good at tinkering, but that's about all I can do in terms of making gaming more exciting.

(Bonus fact: I live in BC, Canada, so if you choose me, you wouldn't even need to fly me out! I could bus over and say "Hi!" faster than you can say "LTT's bottom line" ;))

Thanks again for running this! #ROGRigReboot, because this bad boy needs it.

Lets just say that when I read POS, I do not think of point of sale. I assume you mean that the POS system was from the era of mechanical calculation. That's pretty cool! Those things were amazing.

#ROGRigReboot

I have a laptop. I really need a new desktop.

HEY SORRY VIDEO SIZE IS TOO BIG GO TO MY DROPBOX LINK PLEASE!

https://www.dropbox.com/s/0lgi3x4ot2s3y1g/P8120018.MOV?dl=0

I did a Time Spy Benchmark test and it gave me a score of 550.

My laptop was given to my by my dad and mom on my birthday 2 1/2 years ago. It ran fine but it can barely run modded Minecraft. A Modpack with 90 mods sometimes take 1 to 2 hours to start only for it to crash when I open my inventory! IF it does run it usually runs at 5 - 11 FPS. It CAN NOT run Counter Strike, Garry's Mod, Rust (5 FPS), or even titan fall anymore. It can run GTA 5 as long as you are not shooting a gun longer than 5 secs or it will crash, or even if you flip your car, the game will crash, If I record for my channel, it lags like hell. Rendering a 10 min video takes about 8 - 12 hours. The space bar key is destroyed and to fix it, it costs over $1,000 USD. 1 USB slot is broken and the dvd drive is falling off and is not usable. I now have to buy an external dvd drive. During that benchmark I got 1 - 10 FPS the whole time. it took about 1 hour to complete and the benchmark failed about 7 times. plus just for me to take that laptop anywhere it ways A TON (exaggeration but it ways a lot). plus I have to take an external mouse & Keyboard everywhere I go. The battery usually last 2 - 2 1/2 hours. The startup usually takes about 30 Minutes - 1H & 10Minutes.

I have tried resetting my laptop MANY times, I use CCleaner a lot, with my antivirus applications. I always empty my recycle bin and my temp folder.

PLEASE HELP! LINUS!
