If there is huge gusts of wind, rainstorms / lightning / other natural disasters.... just turn your pc off like I do :P It might be overkill but I power off my pc and unplug my sound system and power to the power supply until the storms pass.

Well I do get them very random for not a reason at all mainly if someone plugs something new into a socket wtf but it only happens as of powercuts like pfff like years but I'm just worried a random one damaging my pc or will it take alota lot

If you want a cheap UPS, the Power Shield line up are good value, and will be able to correct for minor dips such as other people plugging stuff in. However if you have the budget, get something from Eaton or APC, as they are much nicer.

It will only mess things you haven't saved or if something is in middle of update. And those are both super easy to solve. Like with Windows, OS actually creates restore point before every update just in case something goes wrong.
