Best cpu for a cheap home server

BDunkz

Hey guys,

I'm looking for recommendations for a relatively cheap <$100 cpu for a nas. This nas will be doing fast local and external data transfers and run 1-2 not very intensive vm's. oh and must be an lag1151 socket

thanks,

BDunkz

With this you can assign 1 core and 1 thread to a VM which should be enough for a not very intesive VM.

No, the only thing that would affect transfer speed is your Network Card, or Network Switch

The fact that it must be LGA1151, and under $100 means you only have 2 choices. The Pentium G4400 and G4560 - with the G4560 being Hyperthreaded so providing 4 cores.

So you really only have 1 choice.

because the TDP isn't going to be too high, I don't think bronze efficiency isn't that big of a deal
