$1600 CAD Build for my brother (NOW $1.5k)

My brother wants to build a PC and decides to go to me for a build. But, this is my first time ever building a PC and barely have any experience building builds. Here's my build that I have so far, that my brother approves (Takes a while, since he's a distance away and has a different schedule to mine)

Btw: it says $1818.25, but that's after tax, it's $1609.17

If you get pissed cause I put something shitty in this build, here are my bro's requirements:

  • $1600 CAD Before Taxes (Can go $15 over) (NOW $1.5K AFTER TAX)
  • EDIT: Has to come with a monitor
  • Should have at least a 1060 or better (He just said this for some reason, and I have to comply)
  • Windows 10 Retail (He ain't got time to troubleshoot stuff)
  • Shouldn't look like crap

EDIT: Where I'm from, Ontario, the tax is 13% (So $1327.43 before taxes)

If you get pissed cause I put something shitty in this build, here are my bro's requirements:

  • $1600 CAD Before Taxes (Can go $15 over)
  • Has to come with a mechanical keyboard with Cherry MX Brown keys (NO TKL)
  • Should have at least a 1060 or better (He just said this for some reason, and I have to comply)
  • Windows 10 Retail (He ain't got time to troubleshoot stuff)
  • Shouldn't look like crap

Looks, good, however if either you or your brother are students, you can get windows 10 for free from MS. I would probably stick this into a bigger SSD.

Check out Microsoft Imagine for details.

The OP memory kit is not on the motherboard's memory QVL. Besides, the vendor lists it as out of stock.

A larger ssd is really needed for a modern Windows 10 system. While one can get by with 120GB, it fills up fairly quickly unless one is diligent in removing unneeded and old stuff.

Save a bit on the gpu without giving up a significant amount of performance.

Save a bit on the case and drop all the extra fans.

Sorry, got to reject this, or else I die. My brother only likes Cherry, he accepts Razer, Steelseries or Romer tho. Thanks for the suggestion tho. :/

Approved by me! Just need it to be approved by my brother, only problem is that he's in an undisclosed location, that has no internet, and is coming back home soon... At least he has data, but it's a shared plan and..... he only gets 1.5 gb but used most of it. So I will be quick to send this info to him.

You need to specify before tax & shipping as these depend on exact location.

He will have to take a real performance hit to drop 10% - 15%.

Sounds good, perfectly under Max budget (Ontario HST is 13%). Just need to get approval from my brother.

A lot of places don't charge for some reason.

Wayyy over budget.

Those places you're talking about actually charge tax. I was stupid like that and learned it on this forum by people thinking I was retarded. Example: NCIX's cart may say $1600 CAD but click checkout, and it says $1800 and 13% ON HST.

In Canada a merchant may not have to charge pst if they are shipping out of province. I believe this is just for provinces that do not have HST.

You need to specify before tax & shipping as these depend on exact location.

He will have to take a real performance hit to drop 10% - 15%.

Not a big fan of Zotac, but the build works. Although the case only comes with one fan. It really should have both an intake and exhaust fan for optimal airflow. In addition the case is ATX while the motherboard is mATX. So the motherboard will look a little small in the case.
