There's not enough dark fiber to connect every facility in the film industry to every one.  And there ARE dark fiber networks that connect SOME.  We also are connected to that, but yeah, we have a fat scary connection to the net too.

for a client of ours we made a special firewall rule including MAC addresses, protocols, IP addresses both LAN and WAN side, and a VPN login just for the HVAC to call home.

 

although.. that may be slightly above the target of protecting the latest episode of game of thrones.

Well, like with most hacks... They probably THOUGHT it was locked up.

 

There is a lot of security in the film industry but I'm not going to lie. I could SneakerNet at BUNCH of data out of the building I'm in right now if I wanted to.  They couldn't stop me.  That said I'm 99% sure they'd figure out it was me within a week and then I'd never work in this industry again.  So I'm going to NOT do that.

at before mentioned client i had to show the manager i could "sneakernet" my ass in and out of the room with backup tapes with nothing but a screwdriver and a piece of cardboard , which was offcourse fixed immediately.

Depends on the kinds of data and the accessibility necessary.  Similarly, I'm pretty sure that most banks staff have enough knowledge that it they wanted to, they could walk a bunch of money out of the building at the end of a shift.  But they ALSO know the system well enough to know that the police would be at their door in a few days.  It's one thing to be able to take something, it's another to be able to GET AWAY with it.

Yea Room 104 they did leak already which said... "Winter is coming... HBO is Falling" (At the bottom of the screen with a white walker) I'm assuming that meant the GOT episodes. I do hating to wait a week for each episode but as far as Room 104 goes... I thing the hackers sort of ruined it by blocking part of the screen so it makes me want to wait for the official episode anyways. I wonder if they blocked it because MAYBE there is something on the screen that says something important... just not sure what.
