Welp, my Sentey PSU died after less than two years (no shock, should have known better than to buy it), now I need a new one, my system is down till I do. I did test that it was the PSU.

My specs are in my sig, and my budget is 80 dollars. I'd love to get fully modular too. This is what I'm looking at:

https://www.amazon.com/EVGA-SuperNOVA-Modular-Warranty-120-G1-0650-XR/dp/B00K85X2AW/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1498594781&sr=8-1&keywords=evga+modular+psu

(bit of an EVGA fanboy lol)

Though fully modular isn't something I HAVE to have (semi modular is just as good), and if there's a PSU that's better or equal for cheaper shoot me a link!

I hate to ask this kind of stupid question, but I know this forum has people who know a lot more about PSUs than I do ( @STRMfrmXMN comes to mind :)). Thanks for any help!

Both you don't get it:

http://www.overclock.net/t/1476935/why-you-should-not-buy-an-evga-supernova-nex650g-750g-aka-g1

It was the entry unit EVGA used to get in the high end PSU market and now its not only old but not very good for the price. Get the EVGA G2/G3 or the RMx from corsair.

Other good units get listed here as well:

The G1 is a mediocre group-regulated unit in the same price category as a lot of much better EVGA units, such as the G3/GS/G2/GQ/B2, etc.

Thus @2BuckI'd recommend either of the ones I just mentioned.

750W is a good wattage for higher-end SLI rigs. 650W will do it as well.

G1 isn't worth it when the G2 and G2 are literally only dollars more.

The G1 is a fairly mediocre power supply across all boards. It's not bad by any means but you can get better even for the money.

Check out my guide on how to scan cover art here!

I'd get a g2, I love mine (550g2)  fully modular, gold, tier 1 and with some awesome accessories  (velcro cable ties, wire bag etc.)

Want to custom loop?  Ask me more if you are curious

take psu out of case and remove the cover

look for blown capacitors and fuses

most psu parts are decently easy to replace with some soldering skills

and fuses are common failure with capacitors #2 failure

as long as you were surge protected not likely be transformer

i used to pop cyclinder fuses from running psu at its max all the time (250watt antec) and they would heat fail plus i think if the fan circuit fails it autoshutdown psu

I plan on learning these skills and educating myself in the future, but I don't want to use my main system as a learning tool. I'm too broke! 0_0

Plus, I'd still never trust that I actually fixed it. :P

Welp, the saga comes to a close. :)

That was a quick two days.

Thanks for the recommendations. Would have sucked to spend 80$ when for 8$ more I would have gotten a much higher quality product. What does still suck is I had to spend almost 90$ for no reason or gain. Let this be a lesson for me and anyone else, DON'T CHEAP OUT ON PSUs! Especially for power hungry FX systems, lmao. Instead of just buying the good PSU for 90$, I bought a shittier one for 65$, then had to buy the more expensive one anyway. Funny thing is, the Metal Blade 750w Sentey I had actually had pretty good reviews... Well, another lesson, pretty good isn't good enough! At least the thing didn't take out any other parts with it.

(Btw, I know my cable management is terrible, but I can't help it in this case, it has no cable management.)
