Good 4k for Cheap??

I was wondering what hardware i should get for 4k gaming for cheap? (CPU, mobo, RAM)

A 1070 would work if you want to play on medium/high, 1080 or 1080ti if you want ultra.

I would suggest a 7700k, although a ryzen 8 core will be better if you plan to stream/record/video edit/do other multitasking stuff.

You can't have it all... Cheap is also a very relative term, what do you consider cheap?

 

An RX480/580 would allow 4k at medium or low settings for most games.

 

There is no such thing as a cheap 4k system that can play at Ultra settings. Even the most expensive GPU on the market can just barely get 4k/60 on ultra settings in the newest games.

A Ryzen 1400 or an i5 7500 is the minimum if you're purchasing brand new.

 

You can get the cheapest possible b350 board or h110m board, 2133mhz ram for Intel is enough but for Ryzen you need 3000mhz

If you have a budget then you need to say what it is otherwise everything is just a guess.

1070 is about the cheapest card that can do 4k at medium-high settings in new AAA games. If that's not cheap enough for you then you're either gonna have to settle for not 4k or low-medium settings. It seems like you're asking for something that won't exist for at least a few more years and by then the new games will be more demanding so even cheap cards won't cut it.

 

You should just consider 1440p or 1080p if you want a "cheap" build (whatever that means). You can probably pull off a 1440p, very-high build for about $1k (not including monitor/peripherals).

As for GPU even though you didn't ask; the best price-to-performance at 4k is a GTX 980ti used, on the brand new segment a GTX 1060 is capable of playing almost any game at 4k if you low every thing, but take in mind that is no way desirable performance for such screen, so the 1070 is needed and it is going for about 450$~ right now which is not cheap.

 

If you have to compromise too much your graphical quality and user experience to fit this screen which is being completely bottlenecked by the system I wouldn't call it worth and would advise something like a 2560x1440p panel or 2560x1080p ultrawide, there are awesome IPS options of those to still give quite the visual quality touch.

i cant use the board you suggested due to incompatibilities. Any other suggestions?

What incompatibilities? those are the chipsets for those processors respectively, the b350 for ryzen and h110m for kaby lake, and there's only 2 brands in the market so not much else to suggest, unless you mean second hand used hardware, then it kinda is more down to getting luck find an used decent i5 well priced with motherboard and ram along.
