Ordered Disc drive: Got $300 headphones

Elclid

I ordered a disc drive on amazon for about $15. When it was delivered, a pair of Bose quiet comfort 25 were in the box instead. Headphones worth $300. I checked and it said the disc drive had been delivered. I think this was just an error on amazon's behalf. I am not a fan of bose headphones so i was going to just sell them, but is there a way to maybe send them back to amazon and get money?

Contact Amazon. More than likely they will either offer you a gift certificate or prime membership.

It's their mistake  (or their delivery driver depending on who it's addressed to) but calling them is the right thing to do.

I'd just contact amazon and get the disk drive

Generally, being straight forward with the retailer will be more rewarding, both in satisfaction and financially, rather than trying to make a quick tree fiddy bucks.

I would contact them and return it.

If you contact Amazon, they might let you keep the headphones as well as shipping you the disk drive. They also might ask for you to return the headphones. I dunno

I used to be quite active here.

I bought something from a video game developer (a $100 statue) and got the wrong one. they let me keep that one and sent me a new one free of charge!

Think about it there's a seller out there who's worrying over and possibly extremely anxious over these headpones.Maybe these were his kids birthday present or  something.

Do the right thing a clear conscious and possibly amazon prime is a better deal than what your getting

Even if it isn't your fault they were shipped to you, it's pretty scummy to just keep them.
Contact the seller and sort it out.

Think about it, if you got someone's headphones then it stands to reason someone expecting headphones got your disk drive.

That person is VERY likely to have rang Amazon and complained and it won't take them much effort to track you down from their sales records.

Seller? wut

If you mean buyer, when the person that ordered the headphones gets the wrong thing or nothing, they just tell Amazon that there was a problem and Amazon sends them more.

To be honest I would keep them. You are entitled to keep the headphones if you don't contact them as it's illegal to bill for unsolicited items. If you do contact amazon It's likely they will only send you the item you ordered and a prepaid return label for the headphones. You would then have 30 days to send the wrong item or they will bill you for it.

Was your name on the box they shipped you? If so, you're entitled to keep whatever you've received as per the law if I remember correctly, so it is legally yours.

https://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0181-unordered-merchandise

And you don't even have to contact Amazon about it.

BUT, I would suggest doing it, tell them you got a totally different product instead of what you initially ordered and what they will do is probably just tell you that they are extremely sorry for that, that you can keep the headphones and they will ship you that disc drive you've ordered as well.

Not to mention they'll maybe throw in something extra like a gift card or Prime membership.

Amazon support is generally good for that kind of stuff.

And don't forget, even if they really want the headphones back, you are legally entitled to keep them if you want regardless of what they say, but if you do want to give them back, Amazon has to pay for shipping, not you.
