Why aren't these forums Tor-compatible?

So do the ones that cost money. Difference is that the free ones tell you that they're keeping logs, while the ones that cost money tell you that they don't keep logs.

But both keep logs.

Depends, some actually do, some dont, Do research before you buy.

Yeah TOR makes my connection almost unbearably slow... And I have no idea why you'd want to use it for regular browsing, it's damn painful.

I only ever use it for doing some occasional online shopping, since those sites are only available on TOR. Other than that, I wouldn't bother.

Hearing all these complaints about slowness leaves me wondering why criminals don't just use cups and yarn for communication ... or dial-up, whichever has lower latency.

I just don't get it. Linus himself has made videos about the Tor Browser and yet it isn't accepted on his forums. Makes a lot of sense.

It has its uses but I don't see any point in using it for general web browsing as a normal person that doesn't have to worry about being targeted.

I've never seen a group of people push VPN so hard.

It's still privacy, and it's not Tor, which is blocked here for a reason.

I've been online since 1996.

And what difference does that make?

VPNs blow. Don't you get it?

I could say that Tor blows just the same. You're not allowed into websites on Tor for a reason.

Some VPNs are the same. Give VPN a chance instead of just straight bashing it.

I will fight to the death about how crappy and unnecessary they are with anybody right now on Discord, Ventrilo, Mumble, Teamspeak, or Jitsi with ZRTP encryption right now. No takers? I thought not.

I'm fine, thanks.

I wonder if it's blocked because Linus & Co. want to sell you VPNs. Gee. Maybe it's a conflict of interest.

No. Forums usually block signups from VPNs, Tor, and proxies as it allows spammers to obscure their IP.

The policy is in place for a reason. Many forums have this restriction. Look at leakforums.org as an example.

No they don't. This is the first forum which has blocked my ability to use tor. Twitter doesn't block it. Facebook doesn't block it. Reddit doesn't block it. There may be sites that do, but every site or forum I've tried has worked with it just fine except this one.

large sites have no need to block VPN and TOR signups as they have large moderation teams and bots to do this purpose.

this is a small site (comparatively) with a small moderation team.

idk

why would you use tor for browsing a forum? The only reason i can think of is if you just want to be super edgy.

It sure is interesting that none of you VPN pushers are willing to get in discord and promote it. Isn't that interesting. I can orally defend and give several good reasons why you'd want to use Tor and temporary email addresses on forums and I'll do it right now. Give me the discord.

Feels like scientology in here. Is this Tom Cruise?

Locked, this topic is not generating a healthy debate. This is not a place to have a shouting match about who is more right than the other.
