1440p @144hz would be a bit of a challenge even for the 1080ti.

I recommend 60hz @4K

1440p 144Hz G-Sync IPS, much better imo. I would not trade mine for 4k.

It depends on games.

If you want to play FPS games then definitely 1440p w/ 144Hz.

Definitely not, I play with GTX 1060 on High and in most games I get well above 100FPS.

let's be honest. most people can pick 720p vs 1080p. Most gamers can pick 1080p vs 1440p, and most can actually pick 4k... How many non pro players can pick the differenece between 60Hz and 144Hz on an uprezzed monitor. nevermind the amount of horsepower needed to push it.

He still needs a constant 144hz if it dips below then he'll notice.

My pick. You can always step down the resolution if a computer can't carry it at a level that you notice fps dips. It's a little difficult to increase resolution when you don't.

For 1440p 144Hz, you need about 10% better performing GPU.

It depends what games you are playing.

I would prefer 1440p 144HZ for myself with g-sync.

on 4K everything seems way too small for me.

1400p seems to be the sweet spot, but that's just my opinion.

i would go 1440p and 60hz or 120 hz. Gsync is a waste of money. if you dont max out all games you can easily have 120 hz

you get worse price to performance ratio with just one 1080 ti. the 1080 ti costs 50% more for 10% more fps

Not at all. I have to run some resolution scaling (135%) on Battlefield 1 at ultra 1440p just so the game doesnt go above the G sync limit which is 144Hz, that's how stupid powerful it is.

I just upgraded from a 1080p 60 Hz screen to a 1440p 144Hz G sync one, and G sync is far from a waste of money. I can actually see the frames being displayed, no tearing, no v sync input lag, feels great, I would never ever go back. Free sync does the same for cheaper though.

This is hard, QHD is the way for me.

No it won't.  I ran 1440p 120hz (w/ULMB) for years with SLI 780ti's without any problem, and a single 1080ti is substantially faster.  You can run basically any game you want with ultra settings and get stellar FPS, and for the few AAA titles you can't max out you can just turn down the AA a little and still easily hit 150+ FPS.  60hz is garbage for gaming and upscaling to 4K isn't less intensive than 1440p over 100hz.

edit: Also, you get a GSync monitor for ULMB... not for GSync.  With a 1080ti you won't ever have low enough average FPS to really notice GSync, but enabling ULMB and eliminating motion blur is a TREMENDOUS difference in overall visual quality and experience.  Seriously, try it and you'll never be able to play without it again.
