Twitch Is Banning Admin Critics

drak

RenaKunisaki on r/speedrun goes much more in-depth here: http://www.reddit.com/r/speedrun/comments/1r2f1k/rip_in_peace_werster/

Basically, Twitch admin Horror added a global emote made by someone he knows personally and of a questionable source material, and removed a streamer's subscriber emotes which were perfectly within terms and conditions. Members of the speedrunning community got fed up with this admin's past abuse of power and called for him to be removed. Now, Twitch is banning streamers simply for having "Remove Horror" in their stream title. Yes, some people's reactions were over-the-top and unacceptable and action should be taken against them, but how is it OK for a streamer to be banned just for voicing his opinion?

I love OP, he doesn't even know whats in Twitch ToS... Might want to read it... Telling a Twitch Admin to blow him, and **** off **** which I can guess the words, is not really good. Also, naming your stream like that, WRONG again. Check the Terms of Service carefully and you JUST MIGHT find out what is what. Its people like you, that are sad. I wish people would read the rules a little better, so as not to break them. Oh and harassing anyone via twitch is a huge no no, I know for a fact I am the root reason Admin IP banned over three dozen people for harassing streamers (Male and Female).

*On a bright note, Eddies channel pasted in, is cool as fudge.

Personally, I just think the sexual aspect of the furry fandom (which is basically most of the fandom) is one of the biggest cancers on the internet, just as bad is the sexual aspect of the brony fandom. Makes me cringe so bad.

Does thing really belong on a tech form? Not to mention that it's in the tech news section, if anything it should be in off-topic or PC gaming.

Welp, I reported the thread, of course, but the Mods seem to not want to take it down, or haven't yet.

Can someone please explain to me why the temporary ban of a subreddit deserves our attention while the seemingly unfair bans of users of one of the channels of which we watch Linus on, doesn't?

Oh yeah sure, it doesn't make it any less "cringe worthy" though.

People like what they like. Why do you give a shit? It's not difficult to ignore.

Just because I am somewhat of a normal person who finds pronographic images of borderline beasilty repulsive and disgusting, doesn't mean I actually "give a shit" about these people.

To give a shit about them means I go after them and express my opinions to them, or even just to straightout insult them.\ And trust me, tens of thousands of people online exhibit this kind of behavior towards these zoophliac-like aspects of these fandoms.

I however, don't bother these people. Yes, I find what they do is a bit repulsive, but I have no intentions whatsoever to try stop anyone of them as their taboo sexual fantasies, no matter how I find picturing animals sexually to be disgusting, it cannot affect me in any way possible.

The seemingly unfair bans, as you put it, weren't unfair. It goes against Twitch Terms of Service. Here is the pertinent sections.

12. Prohibited Conduct.

   c. post, upload, or distribute any defamatory, libelous, or inaccurate Content;

    i. defame, harass, abuse, threaten or defraud Users of the Twitch Service, or collect, or attempt to collect, personal information about Users or third parties without their consent;

Further, BY USING THE TWITCH SERVICE, INCLUDING THE INTERACTIVE AREAS YOU AGREE NOT TO post, upload to, transmit, distribute, store, create or otherwise publish through the Twitch Service any of the following:

  c. Content that is unlawful, libelous, defamatory, obscene, pornographic, indecent, lewd, suggestive, harassing, threatening, invasive of privacy or publicity rights, abusive, inflammatory, fraudulent or otherwise objectionable;

  g. Content that, in the sole judgment of Twitch, is objectionable or which restricts or inhibits any other person from using or enjoying the Interactive Areas or the Twitch Service, or which may expose Twitch or our users to any harm or liability of any type.

We also have Twitches Rules of Conduct.

Spam: No one likes a broken record, so please respect the channel moderators and do not participate in posting repetitive or unwanted messages.

Racism, sexism, homophobia, or other hate speech: We're not going to tell you to watch the potty mouth, that's between you and your mother who doesn't approve anyway. What we will tell you, however, is that if you choose to use language or produce content that is racist, sexist, homophobic or falls under generally accepted guidelines for hate speech, you will disappear from Twitch.

Harassment or defamation of other users, Twitch staff, or Twitch volunteers, which includes sending users to another channel (notably if the channel owner complains): Treat others the way you'd like to be treated, and don't be a jerk. It's really as simple as that. If you need help in figuring out whether or not you're being a jerk, please refer to this simple chart. And if you’d like to “raid” a channel, ask for permission!

The witch hunt that went in over at Reddit seemed far worse, also, didn't the moderator on twitch actively break the ToS himself by posting porn-related stuff? I get that the users broke the ToS by the way they moved to do something by a moderator who wasn't right, but the big issue here seems to be to be how that mod could push material to the site that was obviously wrong.

Compare that to how everyone started screaming when a group where members got together and tried to call in armed forces to arrest a moderator they didn't like, got shut down momentarily.

Also, just because something is lined out in rules doesn't mean its fair ;-)

The image that Horror supposedly pushed to Twitch weren't obviously wrong, which is what the crux of the outcry is about. Its the image of a kitty face. OMG, right? I use BTTV so I can see all global emotes, and there is another kitty image up there. There is a mooning image. There is an image of a guy or two in wigs. How is the FACE of an anime kitty so offensive to people? Anyone can paste your avatar on the head of a female body. If I did that, would you remove it?

And as for the attention that Reddit got, it went FAR beyond this, because they weren't stopped earlier. They DOXed and SWATed, and harassed him.

The problem is, they are trying to start drama over the image of a anime kitty face. No nudity was shown, no sexual content was shown. If these peoples argument is that just the image of a face is sexually suggestive enough to be offensive, we'd have to take down all of Twitches emotes! These are a bunch of dicks that are bullies.

Yes, it went far beyond, but the consequences, which was infinitely more just still seemed to deserve a public outcry because it was perceived as wrong, while this case doesn't seem to be allowed the same treatment.

My point is that I don't get why we should accept people shouting about that subreddit being closed and not accept complaints about streamers on twitch getting banned.

I won't be affected by either, so ultimately I don't care, but if we allow people complaining about the one, why not the other? That's what I don't get
