It's bad because vacuum tubes carry static, which can potentially damage your parts. Either get a can of compressed air at your local electronics shop or buy an air compressor like a DataVac. Just do the deed outside and go to town.

Static which rarely takes any victims.

Rarely is still more than never.

Be sure to prevent the fans from spinning while blowing air on them, they can be damaged otherwise.

Get a duster for like 50$

You'll save money on canned air in the long run.

Vacuuming can indeed damage your hardware.

Preferably the room should also be cleaned :P. Get an antistatic rug to place your pc on top of it rather than the wrist strap i suppose aswell.

I use a 3100 psi pressure washer. Just watching all that water spray knock every last piece of dust off the system is so satisfying. Then I turn on the portable propane powered jet heater to quick dry it. Just remember to keep it at least 40 feet away. Any closer and you'll start a fire.

Or....you can go the boring route and use canned air...which is safer apparently.

I like your approach, I do like to hit it with a few different acid baths before the high pressure hose to really get in there all deep like.
