The creator of the format says it's a soft g, so according to him it would be jif.

 

However, Oxford English Dictionary says both pronunciations gif, and jif are correct.

The inventor has jack to say in the matter, the rules of languages applies, and seeing as it's just an acronym and not a real word, I'd say pronounce it ad you would the individual letters.
