Worth it?

Hi Guys.

I have an itch to upgrade. I'm thinking of upgrading my three year old system an wondering if its worth it? I primarily use this for gaming. Will this be a decent upgrade?

I currently have 4690k 4.4 OC, Asrock z97 extreme with 16GB 1600 G.Skill ares ram, MSI GTX 1060 gaming X 6gb.

I'm looking to upgrade to  R5 1600X, Asus prime B350 plus mobo and G.Skill Ripjaws V Series 16GB (2x8GB) 3200MHz DDR4.

Thanks!

Depends really, are you mainly gaming? if so then it's not really worth it. Won't ee much of an improvement going to a 1600x, if all you mainly do is game.

Wont really help much, not really worth it (Only difference is two extra cores, not that useful for gaming, IPC and clock speed is very similar).

No in my eyes.

I would rather buy a used 4790k and stick with the system another 2 years. I have myself an 4790k and will use it probably until at least 2019 but probably a bit longer. I havent seen my processors exceeding 50% while gaming but i don't have very new titles.

@Rofty instead of going for the 1600x which atm is pretty expensice why don't you upgrade to a seventh gen i5 or even i7? If all you do is gaming then going for intel upgrade is worth it.

 || CPU: Intel i5-8600K || Cooler: CoolerMaster Hyper 212X || Motherboard: Gigabyte Z370 HD3P || GPU: Gigabyte GTX 1050ti OC Windforce 4GB || Memory: 16GB Crucial DDR4 3000mhz || HDD: WD Black 500GB + Seagate Barracuda 2TB || SSD: Samsung 980 1TB || PSU: Corsair VS550 || Case: nJoy Ice Cage || Fans: Segotep Halo Ring RGB ||Monitor: 2x Dell 27" P2717H IPS Full HD || Second Monitor/TV: LG 49UJ620V UHD || Mouse: Logitech G502 || Keyboard: Logitech G810 + Royal Kludge RK84 || Speakers: Philips SPA-5300 subw + Arylic 2.1 + DIY Bookshelves w/ Dayton Audio || Headphones: HyperX Cloud Flight S ||

TO BE UPGRADED:

>> Headphones << >> Keyboard << >> HDD << >> Mouse << >> PC Case << >> Memory(another stick) << >> Graphics Card <<

Your CPU is quite good as it is, why upgrade it? Do you have a SSD? What is your monitor?

He would get more performance, but even that is poor value. Depending on the game, he will not get more than 10-15% more performance, still not worth it (Even that figure is a little generous, probably not even 10% most of the time). He would be better off upgrading his peripherals or saving the money.

I wouldn't bother personally, unless as others have said above if you use it for more than gaming. If you just game, I would wait until new GPUs come out this year and just get a better GPU then.

I have a Crucial mx300 275gb. Also my monitor is Dell U2515H UltraSharp 25" IPS (2560x1440). Lately my system started to struggle in newer games @ 1440p eg. GR Wildlands, hence the question to upgrade.

Since its 60Hz 1440p you are probably limited by the GPU, get a 1070/1080.
