Since ryzen 5 is just ryzen 7 chips with disabled cores, would there be a way to activate those cores?

Sorry if this is such a noob question.

No. These cores are usually disabled and sold as lesser CPUs since they have issues.

It might be too early to give a definitive answer. there's a few old AMD chips that people were able to unlock in the past. Not sure if they changed how they disable cores since this is a brand new architecture, but until we have sources explaining why it's possible or not, we can't be sure ;)

There where tons of ways to reactive culled AMD cores in the past. There won't be a definitive answer for a while, either someone will figure it out, or someone like ASUS will include CORE UNLOCKER on their boards like the last time.

My advice is to flood Asus with questions about this.

It depends on if the cores were physically cut on the die, or if they used firmware methods to disable them.  If the former, then there's no chance it could be re-enabled.  If the latter, then it's possible, but we'll have to wait and see.
