Linus Media Group Network Setup

I was just wondering what router they are running now? Since the last video i can find where they talk about their router is in a Server Room Update which was over a year ago. In the video they say they currently have a Cisco router but will be switching to a pfsense router. The pfsense build I'm guessing has been replaced by what looks like the water cooled server since it looks like the same chassis.

 

So what's there current router and setup? Like how does there 1 gig fiber convert to ethernet for example?

pfsense was probably moved to a different server.

Fiber is converted via an ONT device as I doubt they have it plugged into the pfsense box using an SFP.

I think they switched to a (Insert company name) router in the server maintenance video? I'm not quite sure which company though, but it is NOT a pfsense server.

The final video of Pfsense said something about it not working well or something and they didn't use it (I think?). The router(?) or atleast a modem can be seen on on the first video of server mangement at 5:33

Edit: as you can see they use a linksys modem connecting to the switches maybe IDK.

Well the top device looks like a Fiber patch panel, which would make sense. The device below it would be the ONT, provided by the ISP. And based on the fact that linus shutdown a pfsense system from his monitor, he was either actually smart for once and virtualized it, or they are running a physical, non-rackmount box behind the rack. Most probable is that they have a pfsense appliance that is non-rackmount.

Yeh i think your right. The top is definitely a fiber patch panel. I don't know why they have what looks like 2 fiber leads coming out of it though. Also no where on the rack (at least at the front) Can i see where that fiber runs to. Unless it runs into the back of router?  I really don't know haha.

If you watch the 2nd episode, when he starts to install stuff back in the rack.. he said he transplanted the router into another case. The router was installed under the switch with all the white cables going to it. 

Can Anybody Link A Virtual Machine while I go download some RAM?

Haha. True. It was just out of interest on what there using now. Since they have such a fast network. Gigabit internet and then 10 Gig editing PC's.
