What are good options for ad blockers for Windows? Also, are there ad-blockers for iOS?

I think I'd like to start using an ad-blocker when browsing the Internet on my desktop but I'm not sure what's available and which the best ones to use are.

I think some are better at not getting caught by sites that'll force you to turn off your ad-blocker or they block you from using a site.

Also, I do a lot of browsing on my iPad every day so are there any good ad-blockers for iOS?

I use Kaspersky Anti-Banner with a lot of approved sites, such as LTT, and Opera on all my devices.

Opera also comes with VPN support on their private browser.

Spoiler

@Bleedingyamato Use a spoiler if you're going to tag that many people at once since it looks cleaner.

Aduard is on the iOS App Store and works well in Safari. If you pay for it then you can also block ads globally, but I don't use that for various reasons.

I was hoping for an option without ties to Russia...

Opera is another web browser?

Wouldn't all browsers let you use a VPN?

When you say globally what do you mean?

ublock on Windows and I don't know about iOS :(

I'll take a look at ublock thank you.  ?

I browse on my iPad almost exclusively (it's just more convenient for me) so having a blocker on here would be very nice.

Come on man and stop the fearmongering against Russia. I know Americans currently love it but please come back to reality.

I don't usually wear a tinfoil hat, no offense. It seems like the only place for technology without ties to anyone is Atlantis.

It's not fear mongering.  One of the top people at Kaspersky used to be in the KGB and I think I'd heard that Kaspersky hasn't been 100% above board either.

Not to mention that Russia has been proven that they've been the source of cyber attacks against the US.    But I'm supposed to trust a Russian company with ties to the KGB to keep me safe online or block ads?    Don't make me laugh...  ?

Neither do I but given what I've heard about Kaspersky and Russia I'd rather not take chances with my digital security when there's non-Russia options. (Wish I could remember a source I'd probably seem less crazy.)

Idk if I'd use Opera but thank you for the suggestion either way.

I rely mostly on uMatrix.

It's a lot more work to set it up for each site because of the more in-depth control, but it works nicely and more importantly it's open source so unlike some other adblockers it's not collecting your data or working together with advertisers.

Do you think the American government is different? They spy the most of all countries. After all, the US conducted the first cyberattack in Iran where they destroyed the uranium enrichment facilities. No cyber attack before destroyed real life equipment in this large scale before. So please calm down with the Russia hysteria.

Russia hasn't exactly been a friend to the US, but I think it's a bit much to avoid any software from Russia. With that said, don't use the Kaspersky thing. Use uBlock Origin. It's lighter weight than Ad Block Plus and it works well.

I use uBlock Origin and it works beautifully.

I used adblocker plus the other day but I prefer uBlock Origin.

uBlock Origin. The only adblocker you ever need.

As for iOS, HA! Like Apple would ever let that happen.

Why would Apple care about ads on iPads?

Probably because iPads have the larger tablet market share, so if they were to allow an adblocker on them, the entire ClickBait industry would collectively shit its' pants, and then send an angry mob with pitchforks and torches to Apple's HQ. They gotta get their sweet sickening ad money somehow.
