Anyone have long term experience with liquid metal TIM?

Going to delid my new 7700k soon, and I've seen mixed reviews on the liquid metal thermal compounds. Some say its great some say it doesn't last.

 

Thoughts and personal LONG term experiences would be helpfull.

It basically stems down to this. For subzero, liquid metal is garbage. You are better off using TG Kyronaut or Gelid on the bare die. If you are not going subzero, then liquid metal cannot be beat. As far as longevity goes, I've had CLU on mine on for a little over a year now, and my friends have had CLU on their 4790k's for a few years now. I would say after about 2-3 years, you will want to reapply it. It's thermal results won't get worse (at least, not in my tests) but over time, it does leave a sand-like texture on the die and underside of the IHS. You will have to lightly sand this texture off both the die and IHS if you leave it on too long. Again, this won't damage anything, it's just an inconvenience more than anything.

 

Now, if you want a liquid metal that doesn't turn into a sand-like texture, then Conductonaut is getting some high praise in that department. Thermal performance is very similar to CLU and Phobya as well. @Lays can chime in on this, as he has spent far more time reapplying his CLU than anybody I know. I'll also throw in @done12many2 since at this point, he has officially delidded more CPU's than my entire crew, lol.

AHHHH theres the info I was seeking! I was actually more inclined to get the Conductonaut anyways, prolly gonna bundle conducto with kryonaut.

Kryonaut is.. expensive, but I suppose it gets the job done. Gelid is very comparable and slightly cheaper, but it is more annoying to manually spread (something that is required on laptops or ITX coolers with low mounting pressure). I'd say you can't go wrong with both conductonaut and kryonaut, as long as you don't mind the price premium.

Actually I just ordered both from amazon, man shipping sucks in Canada. However the Kryonaut was $16.25 and Gelid is $19.23, deals for me I guess.

Just bought Gelid last week for my PC testing, and will be spending another $15 for some Kryonaut for my laptop. I could use Gelid, but it just seems easier to spread with Kryonaut (I don't really believe in the warm water voodoo).
