Time to buy an aftermarket thermal paste then, by all means do not try to install it with a compromised thermal paste since you could potentially kill the CPU.

Is touching or moving the thermal compound bad?

Yeah, you should buy a tube of MX-4 or something and use that instead. Much better than the stock stuff especially now that you've touched it.

No, wipe it off with a paper towel and water (or isopropyl alcohol) and apply new compound to the CPU

Also, why would you pair a Z270+16gb of RAM with a Pentium?

Was just thinking that.. and a 600W and Fancy gaming Ram.. should have got some Value ram 8GB at the most, 400W and a B series motherboard, might have free'd up enough cash to get a i5

Redstone:
i7-4770 / Z97 / GTX 980 / Corsair 16GB  / H90 / 400C / Antec EDGE / Neutron GTX240 / Intel 240Gb / WD 2TB / BenQ XL24

Obsidian:

A Core i7 unlocked. And the 600W power supply is for an RX 480.

Noice :D There's a reason I have a 1050 ti instead of a 1060/480 RN (getting VEGA/GTX 1070)

Want to custom loop?  Ask me more if you are curious
