RX 480 Gaming X or XFX GTR?

What? Lol. Nitro is terrible for noise. The heatsink is tiny which makes the fans work harder, which means loud card. The GTR has a great heatsink but MSI has better fans.

Hi all,

 

I currently have a 1060. My friend is building a PC and I have the opportunity to let him buy my 1060 for normal price and then pay him the difference for an RX 480 (for my freesync monitor and CF capability)

 

The Gaming X is 5000 ZAR ( 373,73 USD) and the GTR is 5200 ZAR ( 388,68 USD )

 

I have a strong black/red theme build but if the GTR is better I'd still get that

 

Which is better and quieter?

 

I know Jay had a GTR that OC'd crazily but i think that was just silicon lottery.

GTR has dem good overclocks and it has those swappable fans for your colour scheme.

I would say get which ever looks best and fits your color scheme, I think the RX 480 is a decent card and in my circumstances it smashes whatever I throw at it.
Whichever you get I don't think you'd be disappointed.

There are 2 versions of the gtr.  Which one are you looking at the xxx or black edition.

The cooler on the gtr is fine it can keep the card cool at 1.3v on air with no problems at all.

You just put silence and sapphire in the same sentence for polaris gpus.

 

But for the OP xfx seems to have binned chips, so theirs seems like unicorns on power draw and ocing to the other 480's but as other pointed out their cooling isn't top notch but it's still better than gigabyte and sapphire

The Black edition is more expensive so I won't go for that. I'll get Gaming X for silence and colours
