Why Call of Duty: Ghosts needs so much RAM?

I'm in Rorke's mission & look what's happening in my task manager:

I don't know, I've never played a modern game on my PC in my life... Newest modern game I've played was NFS : HP 2010.

well there is a ram fix after that it only uses 1.25 gb of ram ....

But anyway that does not look very abnormal. Are you getting big performance hits in game?

I remember a few weeks ago they said you would need as least 6gb of system memory to run the game smoothly.

 

seems that 3gb for the game and another 3gb for other processes in the background was pretty accurate.

It's because Infinity Ward did something to the game to lock it where if you don't have 6 GB of ram you can't launch it, so they make the game take up as much ram as it can. There's a fix somewhere but I'm too lazy to find it :D

So so. With my card I can't play on ultra, but on medium settings it has playable fps (40-45), but on one mission it went really bad like it had 7-10 fps drops (On Rorke's mission)

its your GPU that's holding you back im afraid in that situation.
