Name for Linus' job without the production?

Hi All,

For background: I'm a student and getting into looking at potential career paths in my interests.  I love all the LTT videos, but I find myself extra attracted to the ones involving servers, networking, and system building.

 

What would a career / educational path in this field be called?  (Network Administration, Systems Integration, System Administration, etc.)

Network admin, sysadmin. Yeah. Basically.

look the job Linus have doesn't have a category. you need luck and many other things to get in the same place as linus, he is in a unique position. there is no education path or guide to the job he has. if you want to help with tech you should be an IT specialist.

It depends what options you have available; IT and System administrator are the primary terms for it; System administrator is more for OS/Software imo.

You're probably looking for "sysadmin". There are lots of other jobs that do some of the things you mentioned though.

Correct your title then. You aren't looking at what Linus' job is called. Since that would be CEO, host, producer, screen writer or even director (I think Brandon or Edzel do more of that, though). You are looking for job titles for person who manages servers.

if you're going down the sys admin go Linux route as the pay tends to be higher than windows at least here in the UK.
