Lenovo Thinkpad T400 Upgrade Help Needed

I have a Lenovo Thinkpad T400, with 4GB of DDR3 1066 RAM and an Intel Core 2 Duo P8700 in it, and I would like to upgrade both RAM and CPU. I would like to have 8GB or more of RAM in the end, as well as have a Quad Core CPU. Any suggestions on what I could upgrade to? Keep in mind that I always have this laptop plugged in, so power usage isn't really and issue for me.

It's not really worth it, just sell it and get a new laptop.

Any recommendations around the priced of what i could sell it for? I see these go for around $150 all the time. I am a content creator on YouTube. So I use this to edit and stuff.

ok, if you want to stick with thinkpads - which i strongly recommend, i've been using them for 10 plus years since i was 14 and they are amazing - buy a refurbished one - sell the t400 at 150 if you can and then use that money and buy this: http://outlet.lenovo.com/outlet_us/itemdetails/20EVX021LM/445

im using the w541 right now, and i can say that the older gen cpu doesn't matter - it performs almost like a 6820 or a 6700hq

This one is a definite no. If I'm going to spend that much, I'm going to get a desktop PC.

This one looks good, but, I am only 15, so I don't have a good job that gets me good money whatsoever. So I was looking to star around or below the $300 mark.

The T400 that I have doesn not have an SSD, but I have been looking in to getting one for it.

That will be THE upgrade to get. Lower latency will help the CPU tremendously.

That works, too. The link you gave doesn't include an SSD either, so I'd recommend getting one either way.

newspaper route? i made 10 dollars a day 10 years ago when i was 15 - now i think it might be around 20 or 25 dollars a day for a newspaper route - that's 3 grand a year

you will need this caddy to put into the dvd drive slot and insert a ssd into it

For the past 9 months i have had a job at my local Subway, i just quit to go work for my dad at his mechanic shop because my boss has been scheduling me for 4 hours a day, one day a week, for $8 an hour for the past 3 months. so i am going to have a bit more coming in now...but not much more

The owner doesnt like to follow rules. and i live in super small town usa (4500 people) we dont have a newspaper and its minnesota. so at least 6 months of the year its an arctic tundra

i came back from a tropical resort in china in the beginning of april with my jacket still packed inside my suitcase - i was escaping work and snow, turns out i flew right into a blizzard - those were fun times
