1060 3gb worthwhile over a 970?

jbh110tdi

So I have the chance of getting a 1060 3gb card. It is the gigabyte gaming g1.

It will more or less cost me £20-£30 along with my 970... Do yous think it will be a cheap upgrade or will the drop in VRAM hinder me? I'm getting tempted

The upgrade wouldn't be that big, I would just stay with your 970 for now and wait.

it will only hinder you if you play games that need a lot of vram.

i run a 970 in my computer and its powerful enough to run all the games i play at high fps. from what i remember from reviews the 1060 is about as powerful as a 970.

the biggest difference between the cards is the amount of vram 3gb on the 1060 vs 3.5gb fast vram and 500mb of slower vram on the 970.

the 970 will also do sli were the 1060 cant. also if you use more then 1 screen the 1060 has SMP (simultaneous multi-projection) but the 970 doesnt.

there both good cards just depends on what time of games you play.
