35" 1080p vs 27" 1440p

Sattarus

Hello everyone,

Long story short I have ordered new pc this week (i5 7600k, gtx 1070 8gb etc), but I still cant decide between monitors.

Ones I;m looking for (both are similar price)

BenQ XR3501 35" 144Hz Curved (632 euros)

and

Acer 27" Predator XB271HUA G-Sync  (579 euros)

Since now I always was playing on laptop, so don't have big preferences over screen, both will be enormous improvement for me.

I;m really tempted with ultra wide one, but since its only 1080p I wonder if its worth it?

Gaming is going to be main priority on this computer, of course some work and reading will be done from time to time.

Any opinions, tips or suggestions is welcome. If need some more info, just ask ;)

Thanks for answers!

If gaming is a priority, the XB271HU by far. The fact that it's an IPS monitor and supports G-Sync makes it a much better choice between the two.

Also, I'm betting 1080p on a 35" monitor is going to look bleh.

EDIT: Yeah, I can't read properly. But my point about G-Sync remains valid.

Problem is I cant find store which would have 35" 1080p on display to check it. So resolution is concern.

Am I going to see tearing without putting too much attention on 144Hz monitor which is without g-sync is a good question?

And I'm looking to

Acer 27" Predator XB271HUA

with TN panel.

ISP adds another 100 euros to price.

35 inch monitor would have to at very least be something like LG's 2560x1080p ultra wide, otherwise the pixel density will be very poor, IPS monitors are worth it if you're not interested in 144hz and prefers image quality instead, I do play a lot of CS:GO but I wouldn't trade my 29'' ultra wide IPS panel on 75hz to a 144hz TN ever as I would lose quality on all the other single player games I play where benefice is noticeable, and CS:GO is quite playable at 75fps already.

Since I no longer plays LoL (too much salt) I have no other reason for the high refresh rate...

My apologies, didn't see the A attached on the end for some reason...

Pixel density-wise, 1080p on a 35" won't exactly look pretty... 3440x1440 would be more suited for that sort of size. And believe me, G-Sync makes an absolutely huge difference for gaming since the fluidity and smoothness it offers is remarkable. You will definitely notice the difference.

I'll be honest about this though, nVidia last fixes and updates on V-Sync made it so good that I have not encountered a single screen tearing ever since I bought my monitor which doesn't support G-Sync sadly but going with V-Sync on 75hz literally made gameplay smooth as a whistle.

Regardless the 27'' monitor does seem a better deal in my opinion as well.

Oh boy, once you experience G-Sync or FreeSync, you're not going to want to go back. It's a far superior experience. Not a fan of V-Sync's additional input lag.

Vsync adds input lag and is therefore not an option for most people. I advise you try if Fast-Sync works. Should have less input lag whuile also producing not tearing ;-) just a side not though.

I have not experience any input lag whatsoever and my brother has a g-sync, I hardly notice a difference, but well this depends on each person.
