Say what you want lol, as long as AMD prices their CPUs reasonably Intel will be forced to drop prices or even cut entire product lines (e.g. enable hyper threading on i5s, make i3s full 4 cores etc.)

The forum doesn't care about your or my existence. If we disappeared I don't think even a single person would notice.

We will see. During the New Horizons presentation, pricing was a big focus, and I have no doubt they will offer a better price performance than Intel currently does. $150 isn't unreasonable mid end, that's about 35% on the 6800K, but for the higher end models it has to be more because of the dual channel drawback. The price of motherboards is also a huge deal. You have to pay at least $200 for a 2011-3 board, and if Ryzen can bring it down even $50, there's another reason. I'm not super confident tho. We all saw the initial FX-9590 pricing and price drop. Did they learn or will they attempt this again? We will see. But Intel can't price gouge consumers anymore. That's a fact.

I don't think the pricing will be that different when it comes to the lower end chips. As the chips drop in tier, so will the price reductions, as margins are tighter the lower you go. I agree, the motherboards should be cheap. That, unfortunately, is completely out of AMD's hands. I think we'll see $30ish price differences between the two. I just hope they have enough selection, especially in the smaller form factors.

The 9590 was indeed overpriced, for many reasons. I think this time they can price it that high, though. It's actually warranted, instead of them just overclocking the hell out of old technology with few options to safely run them and the need for extensive aftermarket cooling.

Is it gouging though? I don't think it is. People shouldn't expect to get extremely high performance parts for low prices.
