Having frame dips in all my games...

Nazilad

I need some help guys... So I just bought a new CPU Cooler and a new GPU, the Cryorig h7 and a GTX 970. The PC works absolutely fine while not gaming and stuff. These last 2 nights, I've tried to play The Witcher 3 but, both times, when I am about 10 mins into playing my PC just randomly turns off... When I try to turn it back on,all of the fans spin and everything seems fine but, it wont display anything and the keyboard and the mouse wont turn on. Then, I just go to sleep and the next day I can actually turn it back on. Is my PSU faulty???

*I tested the ram, and it's not faulty.

*My PSU is a 500W old EVGA

--------

CPU: FX 6300

CPU COOLER: Cryorig H7

GPU: GTX 970 EVGA

CASE: NZXT S340

PSU: Some old EVGA 500w

HDD: WD Caviar Blue 1 TB, 7200 rpm

SSD: Sandisk SSD Plus 240 GB

MOBO: Asus m5a78l-m/usb3

Probably, it can be something with your mobo, but it's more likely to be the PSU, try another one and see if there's any difference

I probably need more than a 500W Bronze PSU to power all of this up, right?

500W is enough, but bronze isnt the best choice for a gaming PC.

I'm running a 105w (power limited) OC'd 4670k, a couple drives, an AIO cooler, and a more power hungry card off a Seasonic 520w.

You should be fine, but upgrade to a EVGA G2 or SeaSonic PSU in the future.

idk

Cooler Master has a wattage calculator that you can google and use to calculate your estimated wattage use. Then add 50w for safety, and then think if you want to ever overclock and then add 50-100w if you do.

Look below my message, and you'll see my specs which I run off a Corsair CX550M 550W PSU, so you're probably good with the one you've got right now :)

500 would be enough, it's quality you have to worry about.

Thanks for responses, I was actually asking because my PC is having unexpected shutdowns, I guess it probably happens because of quality and not quantity

It's not about efficiency, the Corsair Vengeance PSUs (EU only) are better than the EVGA GS and GQ and even probably the G2 when it comes to voltage stability and durability, but only 80+ Bronze (cleared Silver in tests though).

Lol, so this might not be the problem but most of the time when I mention it, it turns out to be the problem.

Make sure your Power Options in your Windows settings are set to High Performance.

Do you run skyrim with mods? That might be it. Or the special Edition with updated graphics.

A couple other reasons it might be:

- A bad driver: uninstall it completely using display driver uninstaller and reinstall an older version like 362.00 which is known to have no issues.

- GPU clocking down: use a program like MSI afterburner to monitor its clock speeds and temperatures.

I think you should go for OUTERVISION EXTREME POWER CALCULATOR as it shows the 3.3V & 5V combined wattage and amps along with 12V wattage and power supply

according to me if on budget Corsair VS450 or CX500M

If you have sufficient money you should go for CORSAIR RM550 or RM550x

Please stop with this. You post this exact same drivel on every single semi-relevant post. The Outervision calculator is garbage, the VS is garbage, the CX500M is a last-gen PSU replaced by the much superior CX550M, the RM550 is an older unit outclasses by it's own baby brother, the RMx, and the RMx isn't, as I have said so many times before, not the best value for money.

That actually does sound like a faulty PSU. Perhaps take the GPU out and run a stress test on the CPU and see if the system shuts down?
