Might be time to bench this little monster from hell again, got way to cold today so stuff kept crashing but it was stable through some passes of Heaven.

Oh yeah I might of changed the power limit to +50% and the TDP to be 450W on this R9 280 just voltage won't stay stable past 1.25v

You *changed* the tdp to be 450W??? You speak like this is no big deal lol. Please master, teach me your ways of bios modding.

With AMD cards its a tid bit easier to change TDP and voltage and power limit then it has been for Nvidia GPU's. Just Voltage can be a real pain in the ass to find a happy spot with.

This is only the start of a what looks like will be a very good day of OCing for the 650ti Boost.

Custom BIOS and OCP/OVP Disabled with only a Memory OC on it so far, 4770k is at 4.3 right now.

@KingCry , I wanted to say thanks for the suggestion that the power delivery on my 270 is likely getting too hot despite the low core temps. I guess this card did not come equipped with VRM temp sensors for some reason  otherwise I would have noticed it!

I did some much colder ambient temp runs today (like a couple dozen ) and was able to push the mem and core clocks quite a bit further! I also noticed my Basic scores were not scaling (compared to extreme HD) the way I would expect considering the resolution/AA differences between the presets, only to see GPU usage is not maxed in Basic (obvious CPU bottleneck!). I ran at 4.0/4.5/4.74ghz for the Basic preset and the scaling was damn near linear.

I degraded my 8320 a little bit benching R15 when I got her a little toasty, so my previously stable CPU OC profiles are no longer rock solid. I had to do a quick and dirty OC to 4.74 (could run a little lower voltage) and was pleasantly surprised with the performance gains in Basic!

Here are my new best scores:

CPU: 8320 @ 4.0

GPU: R9 270 (1110core/1616mem)

FPS: 37.1

Score: 1552

Setting: Extreme HD preset

(Old score was 1486, that's a 4.4% increase by only changing ambient temps and gpu clock speeds! Score did not change with higher cpu speeds, gpu usage is pegged)

Valley1552-1_zpsy3zu59jv.jpg

CPU: 8320 @ 4.74 (air cooled with only a small-ish HE 212 :o)

GPU: R9 270 (1110core/1616mem)

FPS: 86.3

Score: 3611

Setting: Basic preset

(Old score was 3009, that's a 20% increase!)

Basic-4.725_zpsl6cwagiv.jpg

The basic scores were 3122 with cpu @4.0 and 3456 with cpu @4.5 with the "new" (1110/1616) gpu clock speeds in case anyone was curious about the scaling. You can divide the numbers to see the "damn near linear scaling" I was talking about.

Here are the screenshots of the lower cpu speed runs:

ValleyBasic3122_zpsclmzze4z.jpg

Basic4.5-1_zps2gc3uxa8.jpg

I completely forgot to record the gpu usage increase with the different cpu speeds on the basic preset, but I am certain I was nowhere near solid 100% gpu usage even at 4.74.

Side question: I am now having trouble with screenshots of Valley in full screen...it seems to capture the desktop behind every time. I had to show the url link that Valley "saves" when the benchmark is finished. I could not care less, but the rule in the OP says to show a screenshot of Valley and not that link so I want to make sure my submissions to this thread are legit B) .

Thanks again @Jumper118 , I really appreciate what you do here. Sorry if tagging you here gives you double notifications, I just wanted to make sure you saw this post because I had a lot of fun today and wouldn't have done any of this without your thread :)let me know if it does spam your notifications twice and I won't do it again!

I tossed CPUz and HW monitor into the 4.5/4.74ghz Basic run screen shots in case anyone was curious about the numbers.

got this a few days ago forgot to post it

I had had a couple runs that would of easily best this score but crashed on the last couples of scenes, think I am hitting the limit of the pcie power (1400mhz boost clock with temps hovering at 60c)

Still trying to figure out  3-way SLI..

EDIT:

CPU: 4930k

GPU:

Average FPS: 131.8

Score: 5516

Setting: Extreme HD

Must have been a fluke... Forgot to screenshot GPU-Z...

I can't seem to get my score back above 5400~ or so...

Snip

Damn nice setup! That has a lot left in it, you could definitely make a push for the top 5 with a bit of tweaking. Don't forget to show GPUz for the screenshot in this thread, sometimes Valley doesn't report correctly and it also shows driver/bios versions etc. for better documentation. By the way, I live 15-20minutes away from you in Evans, and work a little south of Horsetooth Reservoir :) . Small world!

snip

To get the scores into the doc, custom presets are too varied to me meaningful (everyone needs to use the same settings). Check out the first post for guidance so you can join in on the fun. Don't forget GPUz too! Welcome to LTT Lokir :)

I think i have the fastest 750ti on LTT (not that big of a deal because I think and full size 750ti could take this from me)

but I would like to think I do have by far the fastest true low profile gpu on here!  :D

Ah shoot how did I miss that...  thanks

I can't add anymore voltage for some reason. I've been reading around and I think its because asus locked the card. I'm thinking about putting custom bios on it and pushing it even further but I'm not sure if its worth the risk.

The only risk you run is the card not liking the Custom BIOS with the normal driver meaning that you will need to boot into safe mode and flash the stock BIOS back on it.

Its very hard to brick a GPU when flashing like random Powerloss which in CA isn't all that common(I lived there for 14 years).

Thanks for the assurance  :)

I was wondering if you knew why my gpu would actually turn off for a second when I pushed it too far? I don't think its the PSU since I have a 750w...
