Its only because valley favours memory and the 780 has a 384bit memory bus along with higher bandwidth. In reality the 970 has better raw performance and is cooler to.

Interesting. Any games that favor the 780's 384 bit bus over the 970's 256 bit one?

Not that i know of. There may be some, but the raw performance wins over memory in games.

Actualy its not the memory or the memory bus its the way maxwell works and the color compression rendering thing that it has. His 970 sits right around were my 770 sits for Valley.

Bench Firestrike or Heaven and the 970 does better then the 780.

Is it common that a once stable and achievable overclock is no longer achievable with any type of stability? I've been trying to break my record and I can't even get back to the oc I had previously without the display driver crashing. I'm not sure it it's my video card or the new drivers. I will roll back my drivers sometime in the near future to see if that helps.

Most defiantly. Mine even crash in Chrome when downloading big files.

Wow, ... that kind of sucks. I was looking forward to beating that 7970cf finally this weekend .... well looks like I will have to wait to see what amd releases and possibly sli + watercool this amazing gpu. Definitely glad that I took the time to oc when I got this card then to get that score as it seems I won't be getting that or anything better for a while :(
