On a recent episode I saw a couple comments about my experience with Android phone apps sucking battery in the background (sometimes so much my phone is HOT in my pocket) and a couple folks suggested a battery management app that (I'll believe it when I see it) isn't a complete waste of the storage space it consumes.

Can't find the name of the app now tho..

Any suggestions?

I just use the power off button, it saves me a ton of battery life. I've been going strong for years now and never had to recharge once :D

I've heard that can reduce the usefulness of the phone significantly. The phone is basically unusable with that installed :P

I use clean master, I mean its one of those apps that exaggerate the amount of time saved but It kinda works, if things get hot it send you a notification and you can cool and it works as well.

The other one I used was Battery time, I say this is more accurate in terms of what is getting saved and how much time

(Most of these just put the background processes to sleep until you click on it again)

I do not recommend Ccleaner because its deleted a lot of files I've needed for some reason.

If you want to go all out battery saver see if your phone have a community development in XDA for custom rom's or kernels, a lot of those are battery saving

You could also clear your cashe partition and go from there

Clearing ram doesn't inherently improve this as power hog apps will just load back into it. Touchwiz has this functionality natively.

Junk files also do nothing.

Looking for something that PREVENTS apps from sucking CPU cycles without reporting to the OS.

I frequently pick up my phone and see 30% battery gone with Android System and Android OS claiming to have sucked all the juice, which is nonsense.

It's intermittent which makes it hard to diagnose.. Today I've been on my phone all day and I'm at 70% where I'll have days where I haven't touched it until now and I'm even lower.

Hmm, that might be why everyone gets so mad at me for not returning their calls or texts.

This ^ When I check what has used my battery it says: Android System: 36%

I seem to be in a minority. Android System barely ever uses any battery life (Nexus 6P, Nougat)

Anyway, Mr.TechTips, can't find the comment thread. Sorry :P

Same here. when I look at the battery use thing at the end of the days, the two top ting is always screen and browser.

“Remember to look up at the stars and not down at your feet. Try to make sense of what you see and wonder about what makes the universe exist. Be curious. And however difficult life may seem, there is always something you can do and succeed at.
It matters that you don't just give up.”

It's an S7, but I have eventually run into this on every Android phone I've ever used.

I also have a S7, and at first I would run in the same problem with around 3hr Screen-On time. Then I enabled app power saving for about every app and disabled most of the features in Advanced Settings like palm swipe for screenshot etc. Now I have marginally better battery life but Android System still uses about 20% at the end of the day. The only non-root apps for battery etc are things like Clean Master and DU battery saver.

Ok did some research and at least when it comes to Samsung it's all bloatwares fault like knox etc etc. Here's a link to a thread about this issue : http://forums.androidcentral.com/samsung-galaxy-s7/654241-android-system-using-30-battery-1.html .
