well guys it was a tough one.

the one thing we were trying to achieve was portability, you cant really sell a turn-key system when its on a wireframe rack.. the rigs never worked out as planned and we had to redesign everything from scratch.

we tried building proprietary 12, 14, and 18 Titan 4u servers using SBC's with passive backplanes and utilized Protocase for the chassis. 2 of each unit later and we were still kinda stuck in a hole not really making anywhere near what we wanted to.. we sold those units, making most of our money back but still a setback.

so we did the only thing we could think of, buy up all the 1080ti's our budget would allow and all of the necessary hardware to support it. we ran out to home depot, put every wireframe rack they had onto a couple dolly's and 2-20 days later got our parts in from amazon, newegg, and many other retailers (that was a pain). assembly was rough... zip-ties saved our lives.

after reaching ROI in about 4-1/2 to 6 months it was pretty uphill from there, once bitcoin reached 20k my sponsors quickly cashed out and made well over what was initially spent. When GPU prices skyrocketed, they sold all the 1080ti's in anticipation for the GTX 20XX series. with CPU mining coins like Yenten, Koto, and Raven we have been able to see continuous profits on the 6950X's while solo mining, also been playing around with Titan V's seeing really great results come from that as well!

All the best guys and thanks so much for the help!

Im building a few new computers to mine with, any help would be greatly appreciated!

50 computers;

i7-6950x

any liquid watercooler that you guys would recommend

TItan XP 12GB gddr5x

Asrock Extreme 3

8GB DDR4 2400

space isnt important, just need to be able to install OS and mining software. Can anyone reccomend a good 64GB ssd?\

no disk drive, OS will be installed through USB

NO OS NEEDED

and any cheap stackable case that may or may not have a power supply combo.

Thanks!

Not an expert but wouldn't any cheaper gpu outperform your cpu? I can understand buying gpu for mining but why overpriced cpu?

50 computers?!? estimate: 150k$???

ehmm.... are you trolling us?

BTW, i think you get more mileage with fewer high core count xeons and dual/quad socket boards...

LOL. even with these specs you'll see no return with the power costs calucated in.

+ The initial cost will already pull you down multiple thousands.

Go home kid, you are 3 years late.

get yourself a really awesome car or house and one computer, I don't see a way you will ever earn money with this unless you don't pay for electricity

Bad idea, you'll get a much higher efficiency with ASIC miners, especially with bitcoin (not to mention bitcoin doesn't seem a good thing to invest money in at the moment).

There are some cryptocurrencies that can still be mined somewhat efficiently with gpus, but you've pretty much missed the bus on that in my opinion. I don't recommend you go through with this project.

Don't ask to ask, just ask... please 🤨

water cooling Is terrible for crypto it would be better to save the water cooling money and just buy more rigs since the performance you get from water cooling is minimal and making sure 50 water cooling loops don't get infected is a bitch. as for ssd any samsung one has worked well for the rigs i've worked on also the titan xps at least last i check on benchmarks don't have a great cost to performance in comparison to some of amd's offerings or even a 1070 or 1080 also instead of spreading 50 titans over 5 computer you can run 4 titans per motherboard using pci extenders thus making it so you only have to build 13 computers since cpus suck at mining atm even zcash wise rx 480s are better other than that build seems fine as for a case most cities have people who make and sell metal crypto mining rigs other wise you can make cases for them out of plywood and small pieces of wood

edit but yeah cpu is terrible for pretty much all coins ethereum z cash btc doge dash peer

1. You can't even correctly quote but want to spend 200k on computer parts?

2. Why are you using a 3way SLI board and only a single GPU?

3. Why High end CPU AND GPU? Which currency perfectly mines on both?

4. What is the plan? You will start of losing 200k and then get like 500 in return earch month and loose 600 again for electricity.

FloRolf, i want to leave room for expansion in the future, I currently mine Equihash, Lyra2V2, Cryptonight, and a trading few other currencies on bots if I have 200k to blow on computers I must be doing something right. So how bout a little help so I can get these bad bitches up and running asap and stop questioning how/what/why :)

First, aren't GPUs more effectiv than CPUs in mining? So maybe cheap cpu and better / more GPUs.

Secondly, I've heard that GCN architecture is much better than maxwell/pascal (not sure though, heard from other miners).

Liquid cooling is also a waste of money. Get a cheap air cooler and buy a better fan for it.
