Nintendo 3DS still worth buying?

Are there any really good games to play for it (I never got into any of the Zelda games).

 

Is the New 3DS (new) (non XL) worth buying (at $100)

Or a 3DS XL (used) for $130?

for a 100$ maybe. I got some friends who have them but I have never been much of a mobile gammer.

There is a pretty awesome backlog for 3ds and ds games.

Neither have I. But I feel like there's an absence of Nintendo games in my life.

If your friends have a wii u and you don't, you can play smash bros on your xDS and then use it as a controller on their Wii u.

Same size, cheaper and faster. Personally, I'm mainly a pokemon man on it, the mystery dungeon games and such, but I've heard Monster Hunter is good.

Yeah, but I don't see myself spending $300+ on it. Even $100 for a 3DS seems like a lot to me because I'll have to spend $100+ on games too.

its not gonna be that much - thats a bundle with 3 games - its going to be 200 or less

Did they announce its price point? Because I really doubt it will be less than $300 for the console alone.

Just look around and see what kind of deals that you can get. Picked up a 3DS Aqua Blue with Pokemon MK2, Mario Kart 7, Super Mario 64 for around 85 dollars...

The "100" dollar 3DS is usually meant for the people who owned the original 3DS as they have the games and charger, but wanted a upgrade from the older version.

I've been looking around on ebay/Craigslist, but I really haven't seen anything decent. (I also can't search on ebay without getting a bunch of $300 XL's). I think I want to get at least Smash, Super Mario1/2, mario Kart 7 (so a used system with a bunch of games would be preferable/ideal).

 

I'm also a bit confused between all the models... So there's the: 

New 3DS XL, the Old 3DS XL, New 3DS, and Old 3DS. Are they all compatible with the same games, is there any really meaningful differences, etc...?

 

Also, why do you think the $100 3DS is meant for people upgrading from an old 3DS?

All of them can play DS and 3DS games, but the 2DS cannot play in 3D.

The "300" dollar XL's that you'd find are usually the ones for modders or so, they have a older firmware allowing them to do Homebrew and few other programs.

 

Basically the "NEW" ones are a bit faster, longer battery life, and have a additional button called the C stick.

If you just want to play 3DS games without that 3D thing, you can pick up a refurbished 2DS for 60 dollars on Nintendo's site.

I don't care about the 3D, but the 2DS, just feels wrong. And like you said, I really would like to find a used one that includes a couple games.

You could probably find a 3DS combo for around 120, I just got mine off of a friend who didn't really use his 3DS anymore.

(which I can probably get for less), but I could also get a new 3DS for $100 and just get Smash used for like $25. So it's not really that good imo.

I've had my 3DS for 3.5 years now and it has basically been an Animal Crossing machine for me. AC isn't a game for everyone but it's a pleasant and relaxing experience. I've also played some Pokemon X (can also get Y if that's your jam) and Fire Emblem. All good games. The usual Mario line up is there if you want it too. I'm thinking of picking up Mario Kart for it and Star Fox as well when I have more cash.

I picked up a new 3ds at target a few weeks ago and I feel that its rhe best of all worlds. Only benefit to the ds lite is that you get gameboy game access too

@Bubblewhale I think I might just try to get a New 3DS/XL (new) on Black friday that has <10.7 on it and hack it since I haven't seen anything decent.
