I3-6100 vs I-5 6400

Rock04

Is the I-5 worth the extra money since it's lower frequency?

I'd say the 6500 is a better deal but that's personal taste

How is it a personal taste? They look the same, and performance is fact? Just wondering lol..

I3 is $120, I5 is $180. Is the 5 worth the extra $60 or 30 percent.

A lot of people say the increase in clock speed isn't worth the cost difference. I think it is.

all i5 6 gens have the same value, just increased performance as you go higher up. you will experience much more benefits from an i5, it just depends if you have the budget

The i5 is a much better choice, some games wont even launch with only 2 cores (Try to push for the 6500 if you can).

Ok, was thinking of building a low budget build but if it doesn't work, it's useless.  So now need to cut gpu budget I think to get better CPU. I do love my 5-6600k with m2 boot. So fast

the 6400 is definitely worth the money compared to the 6100. having 2 more physical cores in today's pc world is a huge deal when we're talking 2 cores to 4. I personally think the 6400 is very underclocked for where it is and think the 6500 is a better chip overall, but if youre going for budget, the 6400 should do nicely and would open up the wallet just a bit more than it would be with a 6500.

that pricepoint is a really fun one to build in. there are a lot of options here nowadays between not only ^^ cpu's but the gpu selection is so great, ranging from the 1050 to the rx470 and 6gb gtx 1060. should be a great build.
