Can we get a Kickboxing, MMA, and Boxing section please?

KarateHottie93

Sherdog is great but it's so toxic and political. It's probably the most active forum in the world though...and yes I say that seriously lol. There needs to be a viable alternative to discuss a good fight.

I get PC building and combat sport are VERY different topics. They translate extremely nicely though in some weird way. Every single person who loves one of the two, that I've introduced to the other has gotten extremely obsessed with it. It's weird how it works but it just does.

I know it will never happen but please consider it. It would be a great addition to the forum, and one that makes a ton of sense.

It's a tech website, if you want to discuss sport then you have off topic

You mean football (soccer), which is the biggest and most watched sport in the world, is not as big as Kickboxing, MMA and Boxing?

We have a place for those sorts of topics, the off-topic section.

EDIT: Also, what is the point of having a new subform if people won't post in the correct subforum anyway? (like this thread, which should be in the Feature Suggestions subforum)

UFC is a single MMA promotion and on a global scale, boxing and kickboxing are worlds bigger than MMA as a whole.

No, it's not.

Fighting is big everywhere in the world. Fights break the revenue records for every building. The Buakaw/Yi Long kickboxing fight just set several viewing records in China and Thailand. That's a big deal because nobody outside of Asia even know of them. MMA has blown up in the US and Brazil, and Boxing had the highest paid athlete of all time.

To even compare asny single sport to combat sports as a whole is just dumb. Nothing will ever translate to the real world more than fighting.

The UFC is not even a sport...it's a promotion. On a global scale, both boxing and kickboxing destroy it! Why is by far the most active sports forum of all time a combat sports forum?

In the USA it is NASCAR, football, and baseball. No other sport in sight.

This is why there is an OFF TOPIC section to discuss non-tech things create a thread about it there, like the car thread, and other threads.

 •E5-2670 @2.7GHz • Intel DX79SI • EVGA 970 SSC• GSkill Sniper 8Gb ddr3 • Corsair Spec 02 • Corsair RM750 • HyperX 120Gb SSD • Hitachi 2Tb HDD •

I'm still not sure why it would warrant a dedicated section on a technology forum.

We've had people ask for things like automotive subforums, but even that is not really tech related. Instead, people create a thread in off-topic dedicated to a topic and discuss it there. You could start up that thread and manage it. You're clearly passionate about the sport, so why not be the one to start it?

Took me about 2 min to get to this

http://www.thebiggestboards.com

Which puts it at 15th place as the most active forum.

To put it in retrospective, Martial Arts Planet, which has a 1/4 of members of Sherdog has 2x the number of posts.

You might notice Paintball and Honda forums which are more active and yet we don't have a subforum for them. For the reference, the Car thread on this forum is the second largest thread after Anime club, and neither have their subforums. On the other hand, I can't remember 10 threads about martial arts over the years I've been here.

Just make a thread here and hopefully it will last.

I'm not sure why there is even a debate whether soccer is the most popular sport out there, I would dare to say more popular than most combat sports combined.

The ability to google properly is a skill of its own.
