Why is RAM so expensive right now?

I got 16GB of DDR4 2133 for $67 about 5 weeks ago, now that ram is $95? Why did 16GB of DDR4 jump to around $100 so quickly?

thanks dude. I want to double my ram, so I guess I will try to get my 2133 to run at 2400 so that 3000 isnt too much of waste. Maybe my 2133 will stick at 2666, that would be better. 15 case latency is what I am looking for. How big of an issue is it if they have different timings?

Also the additional requirements for DDR4 in mobile devices has increased demand to gobble up current supply, thus making prices go up also...

Most things should be sold above the MSRP because that's how the store is going to make money. Most of the money goes towards the manufacturer, not the store, and therefore price markup is going to be a likely scenario.

Depending on the value of your area's dollar, that will raise the price of products in your area. For example, if your dollar was worth 60% of one US dollar, anything that's worth one US dollar will be raised at least by 60% to make up for it(if the company is based in USA), but because the store needs to make money, they might raise the price another 40%. Point is that the value of your country's dollar is going to also impact prices, and taxes will also influence that.

Yes, there is a 1060 ARMOR for $500 on newegg. Most of them are mid $200's, and a few of the full-sized ones are going for low $200's. $320-$340 for a 1060 is relatively high, no?
