To those of you who have the iPhone 7 or were hesitant to picking one up due to no headphone jack, the solution is finally here! A small company by the name of daptr is launching two dual lightning/3.5mm jack cases this year. One that adds some considerable length to the phone but no extra thickness, and a battery case that doesn't add any additional length but more thickness & bulk. Personally I think this is fantastic product since the case will both protect your phone as well as eliminate the need to worry about any stupid dongles, connecting with Bluetooth etc. I'd love to pick one up but I would like to see how this campaign fares after a couple weeks first, what do you guys think?

Almost more interested in the dual lightning implementation. Would love to see dual usb on my phone (then I might actually use it for things.)

Most people I know always buy cases for their phones, so might as well get a case that protects your phone and gives you the additional benefits of a headphone jack and dual lighting ports.

Eh. Not a huge fan. Those who don't like phablets won't like this much either, especially for the Plus models.

If they'd made it more compact it'd be a rather cool idea.

But, Indiegogo. I wouldn't spend money until it's actually available.

As if iPhones weren't already oversized for their screen real estate, you have to more than double the size of the chin to add a feature it should already have.

Yeah I personally don't trust crowdfunding campaigns, I'll stick w/ my Bluetooth headphones until I see I can actually buy this on amazon at some point in the future.

"iPhone's poor battery life and obsession with thinness is stupid, I'd rather it be twice as thick and double the battery"

*case comes out to fix that*

"Case looks ugly it's too thick"

ugh.

I have a iPhone 6S, which has a pretty bad stock battery life. So I bought a battery case to fix it and now I can go 2 days of moderate use without charging. I don't understand why there's a double standard here about thinness. Apple is just letting people choose between thinness and utility by allowing for companies like Mophie and daptr to make battery cases. Prefer thinness, don't get a big case. Prefer utility, get a big case.

I am conducting some polls regarding your opinion of large technology companies. I would appreciate your response.

Microsoft Apple Valve Google Facebook Oculus HTC AMD Intel Nvidia

I'm using this data to judge this site's biases so people can post in a more objective way.

Your poll makes the assumption that your population either already has an iPhone 7 or are already looking to get one, you're missing a third option in each question for those who don't have one and/or could possibly be swayed into getting one because of the case.

That aside, that feeling that you have to spend more money for functionality that you already have in previous models. Viva la capitalism!

I like that the version with the 3.5mm jack behind the phone instead of sticking way out the bottom is exactly 3.5mm thicker.

Yeah you're right, just updated the poll with a third option for all questions. And yes I know the feeling! Bought a Titan X and was forced to install a waterblock due to the unbearable noise/high temperatures.

God, those cases are ugly...and expensive.

The non battery case one looks super impractical especially for a phone w/ massive bezels as it is, however the battery case version looks rather slick imo. Only battery case on the market w/ a lightning port on the outside afaik.

I stand by my opinion that the non-battery case is ugly AF. Especially on a 7 Plus, it makes an already cumbersome to hold phone even more cumbersome.

The battery case isn't ugly AF, but they could have looked a bit better imo. If they made the bumper portion and battery/jacks portion more blended together or seamless, it would be a better look. I guess anything looks better than Apple's own charge case though. haha

3 options for me.

1. Get the iPhone 7 and live with it.

2. Want an iPhone with a headphone jack? 6s is plenty good.

3. Want the latest phone from a manufacturer and a headphone jack? Get a Note 7. Actually... scratch that, an S7.
