What is the Difference between the Samsung 750 evo and the 850 evo?

Hi

Basically just wondering what the difference is between the Samsung 750 evo and the 850 evo other than the price. does one have 3D NAND and one not or something like that?

Just generational improvement to the actual memory dimms as well as the vertical storage structure used by ssds that improves overall read/write speeds, storage capicity, and lifespan.

ah so the 750 is more of a budget friendly SSD versus the 850 I've seen some review where the 750 out performs the 850 so is the 850 worth the extra money? I have 4 250gb ones but want to get 2 500gb ones for another build and was trying to decide if it's worth it or not as there is a big price difference where I will be getting them

Agreed I think the Intel ones are double the Samsung ones in cost here

If you're concerned with buying a refurbished (don't blame you) just get the 750. Chances are the differences aren't great enough to really notice day to day. Unless you're using it as a scratch disk for video editing or you're running some sort of Benchmark to measure it'ss performance.

I will be using it for games I am playing around with the storage option in the pc as it currently run a single wd blue hdd and a crappy Seagate pipeline drive for photos

That was the word I was looking for, nand. For some reason the only thing I could think of was dimm.

Dude, anything solid state would be a massive improvement. Just make sure you get the right capacity for you.

Yeah SSD's are awesome just wish I could go all SSD lol but that would be way too expensive I've gone 4 SSD raid 0 plus SSHD in my main pc having experience of the 850's I was hoping to get similar but I will look around see what other brands have to offer

The 750 is your choice. As already mentioned it's a more budget friendly SSD and the thigns where it performs less is voeraal not noticed by most in use scenarios you mention. Samsung released the 750 much later then the 850 series, henche why performance is so close to the 850.

 

Take atleast a 250 GB btw. With the way how SSD works + these days games can be pretty big 250GB and up would be recommended.

Crucial is a good brand to look at from what I've heard.

Yeah I looked at the mx300 but reviews aren't that impressive I've seen the Kingston savage is quite popular
