Apple sends out invitations to an October 27th event titled "hello again", expected to announce new Mac hardware

Apple today sent out media invites for a Mac-centric event that will be held on Thursday, October 27 at 10:00 a.m. at Apple's Cupertino campus

The October event is expected to focus on the introduction of new Macs, headlined by a much-rumored and highly anticipated revamped MacBook Pro. According to rumors, the new MacBook Pro will feature the first redesign to the machine since 2012.

After some rumours floating around for the past couple of days Apple themselves have now confirmed an event on October 27th.

Now, one of the things rumoured is a MacBook Pro with an OLED touch bar at the top of the keyboard. The image Apple sent out has a vibrant Apple logo with parts being completely black, just like how it would look on an OLED display. So we can say at least that much.

Imagine if they put a full OLED panel in it... that would be pretty nice

Whenever AMD contract is over with.

I think it expires next year, but then there is a chance of Apple renewing the contract because of improvements we've seen in Polaris revision.

Cooler: Dark Rock Pro 3

RAM: 32GB DDR4
GPU: GTX 1080

Storage: 1TB 850 Evo, 1TB HDD, bunch of external hard drives
PSU: EVGA G2 750w

Peripherals: Logitech G502, Ducky One 711

Audio: Xonar U7, O2 amplifier (RIP), HD6XX

Laptop:

-Overkill Dell XPS

Fully maxed out early 2017 Dell XPS 15, GTX 1050 4GB, 7700HQ, 1TB nvme SSD, 32GB RAM, 4k display. 97Whr battery :x
Dell was having a $600 off sale for the fully specced out model, so I decided to get it :P

-Crapbook

Fully specced out early 2013 Macbook "pro" with gt 650m and constant 105c temperature on the CPU (GPU is 80-90C) when doing anything intensive...

A 2013 laptop with a regular sized battery still has better battery life than a 2017 laptop with a massive battery! I think this is a testament to apple's ability at making laptops, or maybe how little CPU technology has improved even 4+ years later (at least, until the recent introduction of 15W 4 core CPUs). Anyway, I'm never going to get a 35W CPU laptop again unless battery technology becomes ~5x better than as it is in 2018.

Apple knows how to make proper consumer-grade laptops (they don't know how to make pro laptops though). I guess this mostly software power efficiency related, but getting a mac makes perfect sense if you want a portable/powerful laptop that can do anything you want it to with great battery life.

Those older machine is very easy to upgrade too.

Not like these days the new one, so much thinner and yet a lot harder to repair.

Once it had some hardware issue, it is fucked. Either buy the apple care, or you go to apple store and pay $500 for a repair....

However despite all these, macs still have a better resell value and tends to last longer.

Will be busy preparing for Skyrim special edition, so sorry apple; I'll not be tuning in.  Doubt their new machine would even be able to play SSE well anyways :/ but who knows, maybe this one will be different and provide power for the cost. :troll:

totally agree, before giving it to my sister, the battery had swollen, best thing about removable batteries? it did it without damaging the rest of the PC! Then i remove the bottom cover, replacing the HDD with an SSD took me less than two minutes. Done that, decided to remove all the dust, again easy job. Since i was there also decided to reapply some thermal paste on both processors, not as easy as replacing an HDD, but again, done without problems. Finally weeks later, RAM sticks arrived and moved it from it's pathetic 2GB of RAM to 6GB.

If it wasn't for the CPU/GPU that thing would be gold even for today's usage.

Also had to replace the keyboard cause some keys were missing, that was the most complicated thing to do out off all

It's about damn time. Isn't the Macbook Pro still on Ivy Bridge or something? I recall it's been a while since they refreshed those.

the invite should have been titled, "will you shut up now".

Seriously though. I'm happy to see that Macs are finally going to be updated. However, I will be very sad if MagSafe is removed. It's one of my favorite features about MacBooks. Fingers crossed that magsafe stays (or a better implementation is introduced with type c) and also 13" MBA getting a retina screen. I do not want to update to a Pro!

"Hello again. We have a new very exciting series of hardware without any ports. It's revolutionnary". I hope at least it won't be that, because then the entire industry are going to follow their "revolutionnary" trend just like after every Apple announcement ever.

No my 2015 one is broadwell - 5257U

That was last refresh with updated CPU, force touch trackpad and ridiculously fast ssds.

It won't matter.  Macs are always behind in terms of hardware.  It'd be nice if Apple wasn't always like 6-12 months behind but I doubt they'll change any time soon.

I'm looking forward to the remastered Skyrim too.  Finally going to play it.  I was going to a few months ago but then I found out about the special edition and figured I'd wait and play the improved version.

Like I said above, Apple likes charging insane prices for inferior performance.  They're happy with probably the worst price to performance ratio in the computer industry.

Sure I'd love to see better GPUs in Macs but I just don't see if happening.

being behind in hardware doesnt matter when CPU's barely change at all. if you look between the 6700 and 4900 series for example the difference is minimal in most tasks.

If we take an 6700K and a 4790K for example they are nearly equal in performance. the age of an CPU says nothing these days.

May the light have your back and your ISO low.
