Gtx 1080 or 2nd 980ti

I have a high end GTX 980ti. I'm kinda torn. On one hand I want to upgrade to a GTX 1080 but I've been told a high end 980ti is already pretty close to a base level gtx 1080. Would I be better to get a 2nd 980ti and SLI or is the single card option my best option?

Wait for the 1080ti or Vega cards. They are only a couple months away and upgrading from a 980ti to a 1080 is not worth it same with SLI. Are you not getting the FPS or quality you want?

Honestly you probably won't experiance much of a performance boost from either, but while the 1080 is somewhat better than a 980ti, having two in sli would certainly perform better than a single 1080.

The GTX 980 Ti is more on par with a 1070, not a 1080. You'll need a significant overclock if you want to match a Founders Edition GTX 1080. Even so, the 980 Ti is a great 1440p card like the 1070 and 1080. If you need to play 1440p on a high refresh rate monitor, go right ahead and get a second 980 Ti. Otherwise, a single card solution still gives the best value overall.

Yeat I don't get this talk of high-end or low-end 1080s. They're all the same except that the Founders cooler is pretty loud

I can max out everything in every game and still maintain 60fps, but when I push the scaling to 200% i go down to about 30fps. looking for something that can run 200% at 60fps

If you can't wait get the 1080 if you can wait for the 1080ti if you can spend 800 on a GPU before tax. Rumor is its going to start at 800. That being said 1080 is about 30% stock then a stock 980ti. A 1070 is on par 90% of the time with a titanX.
