Err.... is the sound quality bad for anyone else when watching the video?

The mics sound very different than normal.... o.O

And the Intro sounds different too.

Correction: The sponsor spot is FINE, no problems at all but other parts of the video sound a bit odd. @nicklmg

EDIT: Now I know what to do when I replay Skyrim soon! xD CHEESE FOR ALL! Man, I really gotta do another Let's Play (No not a video-series) soon. Skyrim is too much fun (Even when it's modded, oh man.... now that is way too fun; spending hours and hours.... modding the heck out of Skyrim before I even begin to play the game itself :P)

And to repeat what others are saying, the mic quality sounds kinda meh in this video. Intro too. (but the sponsor spot is fine)

Found a minecraft video testing a computer that I forget the specs for, but I do remember that it is high end.

I kind of want to try things like this with my potato of a CPU (A4 7300).

Yeah this video got moved so we had to grab files for it at the last second, didn't have the source audio, we didn't think it would be this bad.

Ah I see, that's understandable.

Video is still playable anyways, but yeah it's just the audio and nothing else.

Thanks Nick ^_^

What happened to the Big ass UPS that you guys had?

How long was the power out?

Frankly I'm not at all surprised by the Skyrim and Minecraft tests.  Those games are well known to use very few cores, so going to a 6950x would almost certainly make things worse, not better, since the extra cores will do no good, and the lower clocks will hurt you.  The Crysis one was actually the most interesting, since it did actually improve.  I guess that's a good sign? xD

Solve your own audio issues  |  First Steps with RPi 3  |  Humidity & Condensation  |  Sleep & Hibernation  |  Overclocking RAM  |  Making Backups  |  Displays  |  4K / 8K / 16K / etc.  |  Do I need 80+ Platinum?

If you can read this you're using the wrong theme.  You can change it at the bottom.

The big ass UPS is for the servers, not for the individual editing machines. There's like 60 mins tops of power for each individual editing rig, so if we lose power we need to save all projects on those, power 'em down and get files off the server and onto laptops to get the work done.

In this case we were in such a rush that we grabbed the .mp4 to modify that rather than the full project, which cause the audio issues.

We're getting a new version now since the power is back around here (was just out on Friday).

Sucks to loose power. :(

Do you guys have Auto Shutdown (for when the UPS battery is low) Configured on the Computers?

I can't remember, but were you guys ever considering virtualizing of the editing rigs?

Yep we do, and I believe so but we haven't executed on that. Not sure why, I'm sure there's a reason :P

Your needs might be beyond what a UPS can effectively do... would you ever consider looking into getting a backup generator so you can actually continue running without power? :D  It sounds silly but it also sounds like you guys could really use it from time to time.

Honestly I don't think the $$$ efficiency would be worth it for us where we operate. We lose power maybe once or twice per year, and it doesn't usually have a massive impact on what we do.

If it became more of a concern then yeah sure, we would benefit from a gene. But right now it doesn't seem like the best option.
