AMD Vega 10 Rumored to have 12 Tflops of performance, 1 Tflop greater than Titan X (p)

that's theoretical peak performance

 

R9 290X and GTX 980ti both have the same theoretical peak TFLOPS performance

It would appear the implication of the Vega 10 is a single gpu chip on the top end of amd's line

Yeah because Fury-X have 8.6 TFlops and 1080 just over 9 TFlops so Fury-X must be tailing the 1080 performance when gaming. Nope.

not quite , since flops is somewhat related to throughput ( floating point operations per second ) and math performance . clock speed is just the amount of cycles a chip runs at and is completely irrelevant . That said , AMD chips usually have a higher flops value because maxwell ( and hence pascal ) was designed as more of a graphics gpu architecture and had a lesser focus on compute than say kepler or gcn

All of these AMD GPU speculations seem to be very contradictory, if they make a dozen guesses at what AMD is going to release then the have a metter chance of one of those guesses to be right.

Assuming this information is not just more wccftech defecation I imagine the "Fury Pro" is going to be a very unaffordable graphics card.

The Older Vega 10 only article (secondary link) does discuss it's sources and the prior accuracy of such, ergo it is certainly possible that it is more than just conjecture or rumour at this point. I will dig around a bit to see if there is any hard (provable) evidence.

well considering the fury x was around 25% higher tflops vs 980 ti but had similar gaming performance, the vega 10 GPU should theoretically beat the 1080 in pretty much every scenario, but wont reach 1080 ti levels unless on a dx12 game

Dell was having a $600 off sale for the fully specced out model, so I decided to get it :P

Fully specced out early 2013 Macbook "pro" with gt 650m and constant 105c temperature on the CPU (GPU is 80-90C) when doing anything intensive...

A 2013 laptop with a regular sized battery still has better battery life than a 2017 laptop with a massive battery! I think this is a testament to apple's ability at making laptops, or maybe how little CPU technology has improved even 4+ years later (at least, until the recent introduction of 15W 4 core CPUs). Anyway, I'm never going to get a 35W CPU laptop again unless battery technology becomes ~5x better than as it is in 2018.

Apple knows how to make proper consumer-grade laptops (they don't know how to make pro laptops though). I guess this mostly software power efficiency related, but getting a mac makes perfect sense if you want a portable/powerful laptop that can do anything you want it to with great battery life.
