Dell Dimension 3000, and I still have it today... (not as my main machine)

-dell-

This was not the first computer that I used, but it is the first computer that was my personal computer.

I had used computers at school and other places like that before I got this one.

It was some Compaq PC

My entire computer history:

  • Some Pentium 1 computer my brother had built for me
  • Some Pentium 2 Gateway (with a 12gb HDD)
  • Athlon 64 3000+ (939) with some Nvidia GPU (that ultimately died and I replaced with an X1950 Pro)
  • Eventually I got my first laptop -- 15" Macbook Pro (2007) (which I used side by side with my 64 3000+ pc)
  • I replaced my desktop with an XPS 15 L501x (i7-840qm + GT435m -- still didn't know much about computers...I knew a lot about computers but not a lot about GPUs other than that 'more vram is good')
  • I replaced the MBP, 7 years later, with a 15" rMBP
  • and then a year later I replaced the XPS 15 with my current build (4690k+GTX780)

It's been a good run so far...

I had a pre-built Acer to get ready for college.

Then a couple of years later... I took it apart and started building my PC using the same case.

The first real computer i sat in front of was the old Pet 2001

pet2001.jpg

The first computer i owned my self was a Lambda 8300, ZX-81 clone

power-3000_1.jpg

The Computer i first started programming on was on the RC Piccoline / Comet. The programming language was Comal-80 - a mix between Pascal and Basic.

Then came the C64 / C128 / Amiga 500 before it all turned PC

My first computer was a Dell Latitude CPi, it was a used laptop from 1998 with Win xp on it (6 GB hard drive 128 MB ram, and a Pentium 2 possessor)  and used that for years from my 10th birthday until it had a hard drive failure 5 years later. My first desktop computer is the Dell insperon 530 and i still use that today (with hardware improvements)

Pentium 4 1.2 GHz, 128MB RAM, TNT2 32MB.

I finished GTA Vice City on that. It's nearly not playable, most time you have to look to the sky to get a better fps.

Even for games like Red Alert 2 and Project I.G.I would not run smoothly. But it's my first build...

My first desktop that I ever bought with my own money was a Dell Inspiron 620 and it was a huge let down from day one. I had a Toshiba Satellite laptop before that (don't recall the exact specs) that was much more beloved to me because it was the first computer that I had entirely to myself.

It's completely blown out of proportion. Also if you're the least bit worried about data gathering then you should go live in a cave a 1000Km from the nearest establishment simply because every device and every entity gathers information these days. In the current era privacy is just fallacy and nothing more.

!!! DAEWOO VALIANCE!!! CT-515 DF. Designed for Win 95. Still working, I remember playing Wolfenstein 3D and some F1 game on it.

The first computer, which I bought is the f*%+%*g thinkpad edge 15, which can't play nfs carbon normally and HP 2010 gets input lag. Not to mention temperatures(87/50 cpu/hdd) and hdd eating, I will have to buy 3rd hdd in less than 5 years, while the hitachi with a cheap psu(in the pc that's replaced the daewoo, it's 8 years old) is still working.

Edit: no you can't google it but I have uploaded some pictures in the retro computer thread.
