What was your first computer?

The first computer that I called mine? Some halfway decent Acer prebuilt computer that is still shared by the family to this day, even though it runs Windows XP. 

 

The first computer I truly owned and was actually mine? An Acer laptop running Windows 7 that was actually pretty good. Still runs like a champ today despite being 4 years old. I just need an SSD for it.

I want an SSD. But everyone knows you can't go back to HDD after going for an SSD, so I'm going to get one for that laptop soon.

I want an SSD. But everyone knows you can't go back to HDD after going for an SSD, so I'm going to get one for that laptop soon.

OK... My mom's MacBook Pro as an SSD, and my computer has a HDD, and when I used her computer for a month, I didn't really notice a difference other than boot time...

Well boot time is a big factor for me, especially in a laptop that I need to take to school and might need up and running in less than a minute.

 

 

Also, program loading is a lot faster for me on my SSD that from an HDD

That makes sense then, if boot time is important to you.

A 120 mhz Pentium I with a whopping 64 mb of ram. And a 800~ mb HDD.

a dos laptop, m father was verry VERRY strongly willed when it came to me and computers i had to start at dos and work my way up the ladder year by year. (one OS would have to be used one year)

The Apricot "XEN-II PC". Mitsubishi manufactured by the look of things.

DX2 486@66mhz, 16mb ram, 1mb video ram. Added a CD drive and an ISA sound card. I loved it.

I had used computers at school and other places like that before I got this one.

My entire computer history:

  • Some Pentium 1 computer my brother had built for me
  • Some Pentium 2 Gateway (with a 12gb HDD)
  • Athlon 64 3000+ (939) with some Nvidia GPU (that ultimately died and I replaced with an X1950 Pro)
  • Eventually I got my first laptop -- 15" Macbook Pro (2007) (which I used side by side with my 64 3000+ pc) 
  • I replaced my desktop with an XPS 15 L501x (i7-840qm + GT435m -- still didn't know much about computers...I knew a lot about computers but not a lot about GPUs other than that 'more vram is good') 
  • I replaced the MBP, 7 years later, with a 15" rMBP
  • and then a year later I replaced the XPS 15 with my current build (4690k+GTX780)

It's been a good run so far...

I had a pre-built Acer to get ready for college.

 

Then a couple of years later... I took it apart and started building my PC using the same case. :lol:

The first real computer i sat in front of was the old Pet 2001

The first computer i owned my self was a Lambda 8300, ZX-81 clone

The Computer i first started programming on was on the RC Piccoline / Comet. The programming language was Comal-80 - a mix between Pascal and Basic.
