Looks wise I think it really leaves something to be desired. I'm hoping it's cheap though, I need a phone to tide me over until Nokia releases something that might entice me.

I think that'll likely be the price for the top tier one. Not too surprising, followed the same pricing with the 6p.

Samsung really isn't that bad. Throw Nova on it and it's pretty damn smooth.

Haven't you heard? 95% chance that the Pixel isn't running stock Nougat but a Pixel Launcher with some unique looks and features.

Honestly the newer versions aren't bad. Considering the sheer amount of features you get, its a worthy trade-off (I have an S7 Edge with Samsung's launcher but a stock skin)

I will say, my last interaction with Samsung was Galaxy SIII.  So much squandered potential.  They also blocked rooting with an update to it.  Was so upset.

I really like this phone. Also with unlimited photo storage it is really tempting for us consumer...

Australia Price for lowest tier: $1080

For the spec i guess its okay

Probably a bundle of factors but one that comes to mind, most of our dollar is based on iron ore prices that china buys.

For things being so expensive, just US companies not liking australia, there was a point in time where it was cheaper to fly to the US buy a single copy of the Adobe creative suite and fly back then to buy the digital copy in australia.

I'm from Europe (Belgium), and my university (Solvay) has some kind of agreement with universities in Australia, so I won't have to pay a lot more, because it is already included in what I pay. But it is more of a general statement. 

But hey, converting euro in Australian dollars give me the same amount for the Pixel XL. 1009€ for 1483AUD, almost what you have to pay (1419 USD), maybe it's not that fucked up when compared to the Euro. 
Then again, even tho I study Economy (1st year), I still struggle with Forex

lol thats fair ... i guess. i still think its unfair how much we have to pay, but i guess i'm probably not taking into account average income and other things that are not within my knowledge area.
If you want to travel for studies go for it, i can tell you perth (my home) is not very exciting
oh and today i learned forex, ;P

i'm trying to get in contact with them to see how long they plan to support devices, they have so many i'm not sure if they'll drop support because of the costs.
