time to upragde my 270x?

silverjay928

As the title asks is it time to upgrade my r9 270x 2gb but i play 1080p and plan to go to battlefield 1, will my r9 hold up or should i start looking for something more up to date like a used 290 or 290 or maybe go for a RX 480 with 4gb or 8 gb?

you won't really see a big difference for upgrading to a 290... upgrade your gpu when you feel like you want better performance.

upgrading to a 290 wont really make a big difference... upgrading to a 1070 might be better.

What the fuck are you talking about? A 290 is more than twice as fast as a 270x.

Don't listen to these guys, a 290 is a big upgrade. Literally twice the hardware resources across the board, only thing keeping it short of double the performance is that clocks are somewhat lower.

A 290X is roughly twice as fast as R9 270. (2816 SPs vs 1280 SPs)

RX 480 8GB would also be a good option!

Cool your post count is the same as the SP count of an Fiji chip c:

A used 290 would be a great upgrade but make sure your PSU can handle it.

What's the difference between a 370 and a 390? A huge one.

That's good quality and plenty for an R9 290.

Yep. 2560 shaders vs. 1280, 160 texture units vs. 80, 64 ROPs vs. 32, 512-bit memory bus vs. 256-bit.

How much is the 290 you're looking at and which model?

Go for the RX 480, either variant works. The 8 GB is more "future-proof", although I hate using that word.

i was going to use "future proof" to describe my power supply but the sound of the word made me gag but thanks i think ill go for the 480 in a 8gb variant because im lloking around and alot of people are want their  sell 290s or 390s for $200 so ill just throw in the extra 60 to 80 and get a brand new card.
