Posted September 22, 2016 Like others have said, it's a gaming rig once the person who uses said PC is playing games that said person wants to play. It doesn't matter if it's just minesweeper or freaking Crysis 3. Just because it doesn't play the games YOU want to play, doesn't mean it isn't a gaming PC for someone else. Posted September 22, 2016 well, a gaming pc isnt necessarily different from any other computer, it's simply that you use your "gaming pc" for playing games on, your "office computer" is used for office tasks, and your server is used for server tasks. in most cases these 3 examples will look hugely different in terms of hardware (and probably software as well) but they dont *have* to be. Posted September 22, 2016 Anything can be a Gaming PC really. If you game on it, then it's a Gaming PC despite whatever hardware is in it. You could be using a membrane keyboard and integrated graphics. But if you use it for gaming, it's your Gaming PC. The difference is that it may not be a Gaming-Spec PC (so to speak). In other words, a PC designed and/or built for gaming with dedicated graphics, a power supply with the highest rated capacitor, high frequency memory and all that stuff. First of all, why the hell would it matter whether you can call your PC a gaming rig or not, what matters if it runs the games you want, at the settings you want and at the resolution that you want. If you're so much into terminology, I'd say that a "gaming" rig is a PC that was built specifically, but not exclusively, for playing games. Posted September 23, 2016 IMO a gaming rig is any PC you use primarily to play games you like on, there's no set definition, if your choice of game is minesweeper and you use a 20 year old box to play it, it's YOUR gaming rig, having a definition that it "has to play xxxx game at whatever FPS" or " it has to have a 980 and 6700k" or whatever other hardware just shows your an elitist that wants to feel more special because your rigs more powerful then somone else's rig.
