AMD A12-9800 overclocked to 4.8 GHz with Wraith Cooler

2 minutes ago, The Benjamins said:

But it saves on physical space. its easier to cool 1 med/high TDP chip then to 2 low/med Chips. (space wise) and AMD's iGPU are pretty good, and I think the rumor is polaris will be in the zen APU. think about NUC's they exist due to the fact CPU's have a iGPU and a NUC fits most peoples use cases.

bullshit

the iGPUs started in the chipset and it didn't make the chipset any larger compared to it's regular counterparts

as for Polaris .. don't get me started

it's a very power inefficient arch - just like everything Radeon

But it needed cooling. I have several motherboards with chipset 80mm fans and heatsinks the same size as the intel stock cooler

It is not just the size of the chipset but the cooling need for it. and Intel and AMD are working towards faster iGPU's that will increases size and cooling requirements. both Intel and AMD die is getting more space o used by the GPU.

just pointing out the the zen APUs will have a faster GPU. the current ones use GCN 1/1.1

who cares!??! sincerely

is it going to be anything at the level of a at least GTX960? no ... then why!?

Actually, it will likely reach a 950 on the high-end ones. That's no small feat

If they can provide a value  750ti/rx 460 performance then they got themselves a winner. a lot of countries are still not running on a 1080p setup. Philippines being one.

A downclocked RX 460 would perform like a 750 Ti and be about 60W so yes, a 95W Zen APU is possible

have you seen the size and the power draw of the RX460?

putting that besides a CPU core is utter stupidity

75W at full clocks - bin it and downclock and you get a 55-60W GPU core + 35W Zen 14nm CPU (like the ones in laptops - i5 6300HQ is 45W)

What? The Polaris 11 Chip that is used on the RX 460 is smaller than a GDDR5 chip... Besides, it isn't running hot, and don't draws much power (For a GPU)

Main PC: R7 3700X / Gigabyte X570 I Aorus Pro Wifi / Radeon RX 5700 XT / 32GB DDR4-3200 / 250GB & 2TB Crucial MX500 (in HP Prodesk 400 Case)

Laptop: R5 2500U / Radeon Vega 8 / 8GB DDR4-2400 / 500GB SK Hynix BC501 (HP Envy x360 13)

My little Server: i7-7700 / Asrock H110M-ITX / 24GB DDR4-2400 / Samsung 860 Pro 250GB & Seagate Firecuda 2TB / VMware ESXi 6.7

because a GDDR5 is so small, right?! 12mm x 14mm

and the RX460 draws somewhere around 75W - my i5 6500 draws less

I said for a GPU. Can't you read?

And I don't meant iGPU. Only dGPU.

The Xbox Scorpio is said to be a AMD APU, and that has a 6 Tflop GPU in it. that is RX480/470 performance.

I dont think it would be that bad. even if the package (in the Scorpio) was 200W, that can easily be cooled.

For you guys arguing about the potential of an RX460 igpu, let's look at it from a more logical standpoint. The current top of the line apus have how many stream processors? 512 which gpu is that? Cape Verde pro, specifically the Radeon 7750. What's the tdp of the 7750? 75 watts. What's the die size of the 7750? 123mm squared. So now what's the tdp of the RX460? 75 watts. What's the die size of the RX460? Surprise surprise 123mm squared.

Early adopter tax. We also got the 5775C much cheaper than LAPTOP Iris Pro chips (that cost a ton because of binning for thermal demands).

No, that's just the GPU

2304 * 2 * 1.3*10^9 = 5.9904*10^12

That's a slightly OC, uncut Polaris 10 after some foundry and packaging tweaks. If we get 4 CPU cores at 1GHz that have AVX2 units on them, that's 4 * (256/32) * 2 * 1*10^9 = 64GFlops.

It will require some hefty cooling, loud cooling at that if the whole package is 200W.
