I pay for games I know they are good and Indie games, the rest gets pirated.

I ALWAYS pirate the game before buying it. If i like it, i buy it.

Music i mostly pirate. There are a handful of artists who i support/like, i buy their releases.

I never buy software, my favorite plugins for making music are really fucking expensive, no way i could afford them.

I have never paid for a movie, cinema being the exception though.

teksyndicate has talked about this many times, 90% of piracy is due to distribution problems from the original content creator

 

100% agree. things like game of thrones are the most torrented things because to watch it you have to spend 1239043129048$ a month on cable services to watch it lol

 

companies make giant deals out of piracy, people obviously like your product, you get free publicity, yes you lose money but you're obviously doing something wrong to deliver it to the people at a price they can afford/ a way they can access said product effectively

 

its 10$ extra a month for that. In three different states I've lived in. lol..

I am now a teen so thats why i download pirated games but when i'll grow up then i'll buy everything i want but for now, i'm just a needy teen who hopes to win some giveaways

The last game i pirated was Civ 5, I didn't even boot the pirated version. I recently got it for free from that golden joysticks event, so i'm pleased.

 

Also pirated borderlands 2, but that's only because i was getting it with my graphics card and i could wait to play it.

On topic: Yes. I've pirated few games about few years ago. Stopped at age of 14 years. I pirated back then because I was poor and didn't know what are the consequences of pirating. Now I know, and I'm pretty sure my home will be raided at some point. Just need to wait...

 

Now I don't pirate anything, but I'm still so poor that I can afford at max one AAA -title a year. But the crime has been done. No escaping from it.

 

 

 

I usually pirate most of my games, and if I enjoy them, I'll buy them. If it's a really, really good game, I might buy it twice. For music, If I like it, I'll probably buy a t-shirt or some pricey merch from the artist. I almost never buy music because it's terrible quality most of the time. If it's a movie, stop charging $50 for a two hour video file and maybe you can have my money. Software, Adobe doesn't get one cent of mine. $800 for each version of Photoshop? Jesus, that's more than the PC most people are using it on.

 

Photoshop isn't meant for average consumers anyway. That expensive software like photoshop, premiere pro, Sony vegas pro etc. are meant for professionals, people who actually create content for a living, not for random average joes.

I use to pirate games before buying them but I now wait for steam sales and have the humble bundle.

I find it funny the day you bring this up is the day British (mobile) game companies moan about it. Saying free to plays are because of piracy, last week they where saying it cost to much to make a game in the UK.

I'm not going to buy a game that rips of a free one like say openttd

It's true, 100% Legal to download TV shows/movies and music for personal use in the Netherlands.

PS: It's also legal to download music in Canada and Spain for noncommercial use.

 

It all depends on what one considers "legal".  While it might not be any criminal offense, there is still (at least in Canada) a minimal penalty that you can be taken to court for (also a maximum though, I think $500 per offense).  So while it might not strictly be illegal, the fact is you are committing a tort.

I only pirate because i don't have $$$$$ for dreamweiver for school and because i cant get game demos as much anymore. now you have to pay extra to get a beta access or preorder. i miss free demos of games, if they brought them back i would 99% most likely stop!

The only things I pirate are movies, and I even have Netflix.

For music I use Grooveshark or YouTube, for Games, I have Steam and most of my software I get for free from my collage.

I can't "illegally" download TV shows/movies/music in the Netherlands because I'ts 100% legal as it should be everywhere.

As far as games go, I like to try them out, but I have a very nice steam account.

I pirated sanits row 4 after I finished it just so I can see what they banned I'm the Australian version. I'm not going to deny that, I don't see a problem with pirating something you already own even if it was to bypass whatever you call that.. Region specific game restrictions?

I torrent blu ray rip movies before they come out cause im very impatient. But I do buy copies on disc when it does come out

i completely understand that everyone has done this, but honestly, they would've busted down our doors if they were really but hurt.

 

i heard the other day on bbc radio 1 (uk radio station) that the internet crime force wasnt targetting "everyday" illegal downloaders, but other illegal things, like terrorist blogs, child porn etc.

 

either way, i dont download anything now days, as i use Google Play Music (all access) which is like spotify but googles version, and that works for me in terms of music and thats all i care about!

I pirate movies (buy them if they are any good, I'm not paying £10 for a 1hour30min movie that may turn out to be total pants, I have a big dvd/blue-ray collection so yeh)

I pirate Tv shows (kinda impossible to watch them on TV and my internet is too slow to stream netflix etc)

I pirate games (to try them, then buy if they are any good)
